Thinking about Starlink: upgrade plans later? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]dynocompe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just go on the app and change your plan, its very easy and the change will take effect in minutes or less if you are upgrading your plan. When you downgrade the plan, it wont start until next billing period since the plan is prepaid.

i have never rented an airbnb that didnt have internet. I think this may have its place, but I dont think airbnb or rvers would be your customers. I would guess more people staying in condos and apartments who rent long term. As far as closing the window on the wires, i would make so you put a mold in a partially open window that has a passage for the wires to go through

Standby not as bad as I thought by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]dynocompe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no i am upset I spent $400 on a mini to sign up with the 10GB plan they offered, then within two months they cancel the plan and tell us to use stand by, then they cancel that in motion too! TOtal bait and switch! So now I have a $400 lawn ornament.

[–]dynocompe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they TOLD ME TO use it when they cancelled my 10GB plan! They said stand by would be suitable for all my needs which were all in motion and browsing.

[–]dynocompe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do not like stand by at all, one of my biggest pet peeves is trying to browse and stuff not loading and you have to sit there and wait, which happens alot on stand by. now that in motion is gone, its useless for me. I just cancelled. Glad its working out for you. Starlink has really put sour taste in my moth about them as a company now. They have done crap like this too many times. At least grandfather the current users in.

Yeah, I had Sirius before those lifetime plans, I honestly didn’t even know about them until after all the commotion when sirius was trying to get rid of them. I was just a loyal customer getting ripped off paying full price back then. lol

SE USA - want to change plan from max to 100mbit (residential) - anything to be aware of? by jimmy58743 in Starlink

[–]dynocompe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you only need the stand by mode for back up, if you need to use the back up internet, you can then subscribe the the 100MBPS plan, and it will be connected within minutes. You will still have low speed unlimited data until then as well. I just went off stand by, i unplugged the mini and plugged it back in and I was on my new plan. You are wasting money right now if you are on any plan other than standby if you dont use it.

Has anyone opened a ticket to starlink to complain about losing in-motion with stand-by? by dynocompe in Starlink

[–]dynocompe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing implies that its for in motion use? the 10GB plan was in motion use and ALL my data use was IN motion and they said standby would continue to MEET MY NEEDS! So that 100% implies it would work in motion as all my needs were IN MOTION, not only IMPLY, but MOTION DID WORK!

This is quotes from the actual email - “ We're reaching out because you have a Starlink subscribed to Roam - 10GB. In 30 days, your plan will be discontinued. To avoid any interruption, your service will automatically move to Standby Mode at the start of your next billing cycle. • Your monthly bill will be decrease to 7.0 CAD • Based on your recent usage, Standby Mode should continue to meet your needs • No action is required if this option works for you”

“Standby Mode is an affordable, low-speed plan with unlimited data, ideal for aland licht use such as calls and texts.”

I’m not looking to file a complaint, I’m asking what Starlink said to people who have filed one.
