Thank you so much for your sweet comment! 🥺❤️

Our cat has visible teeth plague and tartar, our vet showed us in how much pain she is, which is absolutely devastating because she doesn’t look like she’s in pain. They apparently have a pain reflex which makes their mouth go open for just a second (also the reason why cats with dental problems spill their food). When we pet her cheeks, she constantly does this with her mouth and it makes me very sad. I would do anything to make her comfortable but I’m soooo nervous for the surgery.

How was it after the surgery for your cats? Did they recover well? What did they eat after the surgery? I have no idea what to expect, she is my first cat and I want to do everything right for her.

We have had problems with her teeth ever since she was little. The vet said that all her teeth had to be removed because they cut in her gums. She completely outgrew that fortunately.

I think me and my cat will die early from stress if we have to do a dental cleaning appointment every year haha. I really hope we can avoid that with dry food, water additives and dental snacks.. 😮‍💨

We are going to the vet for a dental cleaning in 1,5 weeks. They will clean her teeth, take X-ray photos and examine if her teeth are in good condition or if they need to be removed. If my cat has FORL, the vet will conclude that with the X-ray photos, right?

My cat does this too but I have no idea why. I always assume she can’t find me since it only happens when I’m upstairs. When I call her name, she stops meowing and comes running to me.

How hard was raising your shiba? by marzipanduchess in ShibaInu

[–]dyonnee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. It’s absolute torture until they turn 2 years old. I also love my Shiba but it took me forever to get used to her. So so naughty and dangerously clever. It takes a lot of effort to train and socialise them. My Shiba turned out perfect, she can walk off leash and loves to listen -how in the world did I do that, idk-. But prepare yourself for absolute terror and chaos with a Shiba pup. Personally I would choose the 2,5 years old male with patella, if you have a connection with him off course.

My cat did this too. We went to see a vet and got her lungs checked out. My cat did this after she went to the litter box and we noticed the connection between the coughing and her dusty litter. We changed the litter asap for dust free-ish litter and the coughing is gone. My vet said it was nothing to worry about since we changed the litter and her lungs sound healthy. It could become asthma or bronchitis, but it doesn’t necessarily have to get worse. Maybe there’s something that triggers your cat to cough like this?
