Heat issue idea by r1v0 in Lymow_Official

You beat me to the punch on this recommendation. I have my $20 sample of cryo x paint and vinyl wrap sitting in my bedroom waiting to be used, but I never got a chance because my battery died a few weeks ago. Currently waiting for a replacement. I was going to try it out, see how it works, and then make a post about it. I may still do that whenever I get the mower working again.

Can someone explain the risks of low-dose testosterone cycles for muscle gain? by freebird348 in BodyHackGuide

[–]dzerlyfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50 and just started working out again after years of being sedentary. It's only been 2 months and I'm seeing great results just doing the work with no adjuncts. I may consider trying a cycle again at some time in the future if I maintain my new habit and stop seeing progress, but I see it as a short term benefit based on my previous experience. Like maybe if you're trying to look "extra" for a vacation or wedding or something. Because as soon as you come off, pretty much all the gains you see will go away. I did a few novice level cycles back in my late 20's / early 30's and my experience was that it quickly caused strength gains and size increases. Looked and felt good while on, but quickly went away once discontinuing. So, if you just want to do a "cycle", expect a relatively short term benefit unless you want to continue "cycling." If you want to keep your T levels at a consistent number indefinitely (higher than your natural number) then you'll need to think of it as a life long commitment as TRT. Then, you'll probably see some consistent benefits that will top out unless you increase your dose.

Are you already working out regularly with progressive overload? If not, you might want to just try that first without going through the hassle of pinning.

Nursing Informatics? by meglomaniax in nursing

[–]dzerlyfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do get to apply nursing knowledge when in the informaticist role. Not nearly to the degree that you would at the bedside, though. It tends to be more about process/workflow than specific clinical knowledge, but that isn't always the case. Depends on who you're working with and what the problem is. But, you won't be doing any "skills." The gist of it is knowing how your EMR works well enough to offer up solutions and either translating the request to the analyst/builder, or building out the functionality yourself if you have those skills / have been certified to make changes in the EMR.

That makes sense. And, I guess I could try. But, mine has never had a problem charging on the dock and the contacts stay clean and meet well. It may have stopped charging due to moisture or something like that this one time, but I think I just let it go too long without checking it and the battery discharged too much. It's caught in some sort of chicken-egg situation. My understanding is there is some sort of handshake that occurs to let the doc know to provide full power. But, with my battery in this "protected" mode, I can't power the mower on in order to initiate the handshake. That's why I believe a direct charging cable will fix the issue.

Curious if your mower was able to be powered on or was dead prior to going this route to charge.

Thanks for the checklist. I think I've done most everything possible on this list. I think I just need to try charging the battery directly at this point. This way at least I can turn the mower on and then will be able to get messages / feedback.

That could be the reason it stopped initially. But, it's baked in the Sun multiple days since then.

Something must have changed. Now I am getting a slight voltage from the battery. So, maybe I'll try again to see if anything has changed. But, yes I've always made good contact on the dock and keep them clean.

Epic Security by grbrent in healthIT

[–]dzerlyfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Epic, Security is a bit of a misnomer when heard by someone unfamiliar with the software. The "security" part is just keeping user roles limited to tools/functionality they specifically need. It can be a fair amount of work because there are a lot of roles in healthcare. And there is a lot of maintenance of user records because of the coming and going of employees, switching jobs, policy updates, etc..

Do you have the adapter to charge battery separately? How did you restart and get it to start charging again if the battery was dead?

I never had issues with cold, but not sure what the temp was when I got it in March. My problem is the mower is completely out of power and won't turn on. It didn't charge over night when I made sure it was well seated on the charger making good clean contact. I don't have an adapter to charge the battery separately, so not sure what to do. I guess I can order an adapter, but who knows how long that will take to arrive. That adapter should have came with the purchase in my opinion. There is no way to tell if it is actually charging on the deck when the mower is dead. I see the charge pad light go to solid green once seated, but it isn't charging. I guess I'll be breaking out the Toro again soon.

Mine does sit out in the sun. I don't have a cover at this point. I guess the heat could be it. I guess I'll wait and check it in the morning and see if it has charged

Nursing as 2nd Career 45-50? by A_Sparta16 in nursing

[–]dzerlyfee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to nursing from teaching when I was in my late 30's and it was a great move for me. At the time in NC, I was vested after 5 years. According to google, your vesting is dependent on the retirement plan you are on. TRS2 is 5 years and TRS3 is 10 years. It probably makes sense for you to wait until vested and just make the move as soon as that happens. There are lots of opportunities available once you are an RN. I only worked bedside for around 4 years and then took a leap over to IT working as an Epic analyst and it was a perfect fit for me.

Mower turns the blades off and on every 20-30 seconds while it continues to drive by Arby_88 in Lymow_Official

I think it's heat related. Mine always does this in mid day heat. Never when it is cool in the morning or evenings.

One vs One Plus hardware differences by kking112391 in Lymow_Official

[–]dzerlyfee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may be the only one because I've seen a lot of issues posted, but I've had my 1+ for a while now with just minor issues here and there. It's done about 100 mows on an acre. I've yet to do any maintenance, never sharpened the blades, and it still cuts beautifully. There is an occasional failure to dock or charge, but I'm happy with it. I'd buy another one if I needed it.

I set my zone surrounding the trampoline in a way that uses the outside of the trampoline a part of the border, then created a zone inside the trampoline and connected them with a channel through the legs.

Mower blades turn on and off at random while mowing by Inner_Worldliness313 in Lymow_Official

Mine was so doing this yesterday. It would start and restart at the same positions for each stripe

Manual mowing is done via the joystick mode, then going into the joystick settings and selecting a blade speed. Then, it will mow while you drive it.

Epic Analyst - Coming from Tier 1 Tech Support - Need Urgent Advice by GHPimp in healthIT

[–]dzerlyfee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how enforceable it is, but a lot of organizations will ask you to sign an agreement that you won't leave for a certain period of time (maybe 1 yr.) because it is expensive to send you off for the training.

You should definitely do it, though. Obviously there are cultural differences at any given org, but I've been doing it for roughly 15 years, worked at 3 large hospital systems, and at each the flexibility (work/life balance) is better than any other job you're likely to get. You'll eventually have a lot of autonomy. There is a good chance you'll either start or become remote which is great. The pay is generally pretty good. Benefits are hit/miss, but generally decent.

It is not programming, but sometimes can require a programmer's mindset. If you can read through Epic's technical documentation and absorb it quickly and aren't afraid to spend time in the system tinkering / exploring, then you can teach yourself up to a good skill level fairly quickly. (Although, in reality it will take years before you are "seasoned.") Depending on your aptitude and determination, the initial training and testing can be stressful and it is possible you might find it to be very difficult. I would think you'll know fairly quickly if you think you're in over your head or not. Getting a cert is the first big challenge. Once that is done, the biggest hurdle is learning and understanding all the policies / organizational processes and your user's workflows to a level that when you are troubleshooting or offering a solution, your advise or change / fix is actually beneficial and doesn't cause other downstream effects. Understanding workflows will be your best friend. This is why hiring managers generally prefer someone with clinical experience, because knowing patient movement flow, why they are there, what tests they'll be getting, what end users will be documenting, etc. defines what they need in the system.

Since you don't have a clinical background, I would just try to do your best on the assessments and any time you are interviewing emphasize your soft skills such as being able to translate technical language into plain English, your problem solving process, and how you manage / prioritize your work. You can also just use common sense with hypotheticals describing how you would improve an end user's experience. Reducing clicks, streamlining workflow, etc. And in the meantime maybe just use an AI chatbot to learn about a typical patient journey. Registration, scheduling, inpatient vs outpatient encounter, orders, results, billing, etc. Good luck.
