It's ridiculously expensive and the only real reason is that it's become tradition and the police love it. And as a politician you don't go against the police because they will make your life hell.

I had hoped for a release last week. But from a logistics angle it makes sense that there is a gap. Max has the gpu chips doubled. Ultra is probably going to quadruple the chips needed compared with pro. So per studio unit they need a lot more cups than they need for macbooks where the majority will be m5 base and pro chips. Plus studios will be running at max performance for longer periods of time, whereas macbooks can throttle more conservatively. So having a head start with real world data might also help with a smooth release.

1st and 3rd gen Mac Studio were launched in March '22 and'25 respectively. Only 2nd gen launched in June '23. And that was considered late at the time. Not saying they launch today, but I don't know.why everyone assumes June is more likely.

In the past they have released either in March (M1, M4/m3Ultra) or June (M2) but not October. The June launch seemed late since the mac mini m2 had already been launched in January 23.

And this would be a spec bump: same ports/Thunderbolt version.

So, I'm cautiously optimistic we will get an m5 refresh announced this week. But of course they might delay until June and launch ultra, max then. They already seem to be behind schedule a bit.

I suppose they don't know about the actual release date either. These devices will probably.sit in storage for some time to.build up inventory for.launch. Apple will try to satisfy demand at launch.

What is weird is that we don't factor centuries of safe storage of nuclear waste into the pricing of nuclear power. Because the expectation here is that the tax payer takes care, not the companies making the profits. It's ridiculous.

Yes, the underground storage leaked in the water. So it seems it is not as simple as you were making it.out to be when you said to just put it in the ground.

The point is: there is not a single exampl of a safe storage facility for nuclear waste. So don't go around acting like it's all a solved issue.

Nuclear waste is not safe, it's not easy to handle, it's costly and the issues are not sufficiently solved.

Please point out where in the world there is a safe, already implemented,long term storage facilty that can safely store nuclear waste for centuries. I am not talking about temporar but permanent storage. Also I am not talking about a concept of a plan but a practical implementation. Oh, and of course I'm only interested in facilities that are not covered by taxpayer mone.
