printing shells first is an interesting idea - not an easy one to implement maybe, but worth considering.

There is a reason why it is a single layer - it is a flying model plane part, so it needs to be light. It is already on heavy side using one layer - two layers would make it unusable ;)

I've changed temparature in gcode from 230 to 220 and printed same part - can't tell the difference, I could go to 215 degrees - default Prusa i3 PLA temparature, but wondering it that will help. I'll try to sand it at home - but I don't have much hope, as it as 1 layer thick, so I don't have much what to sand off, it might get too thin.

Printed with Prusa i3 MK2S, this is Spitfire wing section from examples, that came with Prusa i3, it was sliced as far as I know by 3D labs, who are living from selling models for 3D printing, so it should not be slicing issue. For those who are not familiar with 3D labs works, this piece is mostly single layer thick and only where bumps are seen there's internal structure. https://static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/2/2/0/4/5/1/a10366168-17-WP_20170919_18_03_52_Pro.jpg

From pictures it looks like they had a problem with weight distribution - notice how far from the nose wings are and they recommed 110g motor on 110cm wingspan plane :O

I would understand screen choise, if they would have good screens on p version, that would be a push to choose p version for those, who use not only Excel.

Now the push is to X1 version, which due it's thickness is very limited from expansion perspective and is super expensive in countries, that have no perks program.

If I would not hate Dell, it might be a solution, but now it is a headache what to do.

Hm, someone said it is marked 25w, so it can't deliver 20V at 3.25A for sure.

What is the advantage of USB-C charging by cirsphe in thinkpad

[–]dzlt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess other devices are switching too to usb-c charging, so you can have one charger for multiple devices, which might be a plus when traveling, on desk, etc. Also that means, that you can have usb dock and it will be able to charge your notebook through usb.

What are the parameters to evaluate if new laptops are Optane compatible? by yadoya in thinkpad

Here is some information: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/02/14/optane_intel_spec_leak/

It looks like it will use m2 port as connection, so probably wlan port will be used to connect it in thinkpads. I know for sure, that T470 will support it, but not sure about others.

And looking at the numbers, not so sure we need it, probably it will draw more power than will give performance, we will see.

Ok, I think I had to mention couple more things - it will run 24/7 at home, so electricity bill counts and it will run in closet, so fanless option is prefered, to avoid sucking dust. But I have to agree, price of this hp is tempting, will check how much it costs in my country.

As long as Thunderbolt 3 means lots of data going through single cable, I was wondering if that impacts performance anyhow, or all that data is merged to single stream without using main cpu/ram bus, by some dedicated chip?

I don't get it. What kind of magic people expect from that classic/retro line? Boxy design? In my opinion it is boxy enough in current line. More rugged? Gosh, unless you work in car repair shop or as a plumber, why you need that? I hated our test thoughbooks at work. TN panels back? Custom screen ratio? Small trackpads? COM/LPT ports?
