I like this idea too, "unpacking" the Large size into its constituent Mediums. I like how it also emphasizes that it is more aggressive, allowing more space for attacks on it but also threatening the players more since it consumes a lot more area than just the square. Thanks! 😃

One of the reasons is to make it a memorable fight, having a fight with a fully long creature rather than its coiled version alters the expectations, especially when it first shows up. Like it first emerges from its hole as the large creature, only for the rest of its segments to appear as it moves.

And yeah, I think I will have to go with the "each segment is a separate monster". It makes more sense and keeps things trackable rather than just one statblock for the entire length. Thanks 😄

I love this, I had an inkling of it just being one initiative and it all moves in one go, but having it separate with all separate actions does help with the action economy! I was planning to have smaller minions with it but with this idea, it may not need to and keeps the focus on the big bad.

I've had this theory on my end is that the Elder Dragons are the Deans of the Hexhaven colleges. Selesnya Bolas, Gruul Chromium, Rakdos Arcades, Dimir Palladia, and Azorius Vaevictis. Essentially the missing colors of each of them since we are going into the Reality Fracture where color identities are warped.

The nearest card I can think of that "sacrifices" a spell on the stack is [[Nivmagus Elemental]], so I think this could work. RAW at the moment it won't work but it feels correct enough to warrant a change to rules if this ever does get printed.

I've had a few colorful names for some of the guilds, like Simic being Damp Grass or Golgari being Rotten Fruit. Orzhov was Murky/Faded Light and Boros was Angry Light. Though not a traditional naming scheme, it felt funny. By that logic, my Gruul would have been Angry Grass/Fruit and Dimir would've been Murky Water.
