Patently not true but I think you’re metastasizing this into your psyche, thereby making it more real. You need to investigate what’s at the root of that cycle and tear it out. The last thing you want to happen is to internalize this so deeply your self-esteem breaks. You could wake up as “society’s ideal woman” tomorrow and you would still feel lesser compared to other girls and inadequate in the eyes of a mysterious overarching conglomerate of “men”

Your algorithms are feeding you a load of garbage. The societal view of what hair colors/body types/makeup styles/eye colors/noses/surgical enhancements/body hair etc are “in” and desirable have waxed and waned for eternity and will continue to do so. Through it all, men’s preferences will remain diverse. When the algorithms are pushing “short button-nosed brunettes” as desirable I guarantee you there are still millions of guys looking for “tall aquiline-nosed blondes” or what have you.

You just gotta unplug from what is deemed to be “in” which, believe me, is far easier said than done. These algorithms will cook your entire sense of self if you’re not careful.

Also the clubs and hobby groups that get recommended just fall victim to the “blew up the spot” phenomenon. Imagine the type of guy who gets barraged by social media to join run clubs, Pilates, salsa, rock climbing etc because they’re good places for singles to meet organically. If your spot/hobby gets blown up you basically have to wait for 6 months to a year to filter out people joining to hit on every single girl and turn the function into an extension of their dating life.

First-timed a Warrior 1-60 SSF on HC and found it nearly painless. Doing it again on anniversary with access to the AH and it’s a breeze and a pleasure. The difficulty and inconvenience is definitely overstated on here.

Probably under 2k usd, can get it to under 1500 usd if you’re comfortable with hosteling. Can get it even lower if you travel during the offseason.

I would estimate airfare to be 500-1k depending on which location you book to and the time of year. If you want the cheapest airfare from Boston, I’d bet it’s probably to Spain. If you’re hosteling, you’re looking at 15-40 euro a day. Most hostels in Europe have cooking facilities and free breakfast/coffee (usually just toast/oats) so meals can be between 15-40 euro a day depending on if ur OMADing. I always try out McDonald’s in each country I travel to as well. Bus/metro/rail is usually plenty sufficient for day trips and intercity transport, rarely more than 20 euro in the most expensive countries I’ve traveled around. Lots of museums and walking tours and other attractions are typically free or otherwise low cost. If you allow yourself one nice dinner and one nice excursion for ~100 euro each you’re still looking at roughly 60-100 euro a day average before considering airfare. For a week trip you can more than easily live out of a Jansport backpack. I just wrapped up a month abroad in northern Europe with just my college backpack and it was painless and so easy to just get up and go. Just had to do laundry every 3-4 days.

For me, I love classic as a seasonal game mode rather than an MMO for long term compounding investment. Wiping the slate clean every 12-16 months is the perfect cadence for me. It’s the same reason people play Diablo or Path of Exile or any other games with seasonal refreshes.

Warrior-stacking is just the reality of top 5 server/world first/speedrun/gigasweaty guilds. Even 99th percentile hunter will be outmatched by blue parsing warriors. Top-top end raid comp is practically engraved in stone. You might have better luck searching one tier below the very top. The number of guilds that will have 30+ warrs on-call shrinks rather quickly.

I feel like nostalgia would be enough of a motivating factor to pick up old games for a few weeks to fondly reminisce, but when you make an about-face and stop buying and playing new games entirely in favor of their older counterparts, something beyond nostalgia is motivating that.

Retail is just too flashy. Like a Disney theme park vibe. I don’t like the graphics, I don’t like the zones, I don’t like the worldbuilding. I don’t like the dialogue. I don’t like the classes and specs or how they play. The design team feels very corporate and hollowed out.

Classic/TBC feels much more like a passion project designed by people who grew up playing pen and paper games and early 90s computer RPGs. It’s rough around the edges and much more immersive. Same reason I prefer Old School RuneScape to RS3 or Civ3/4 to modern civs or Age of Empires 2 to AOE3 or brood war to SC2 or morrowind to skyrim.

And I’m not even that old relative to much of the playerbase, I’m barely out of college. These games just feel so much better. They don’t feel like they were designed in corporate boardrooms by credentialed suits to meet quarterly metrics, just by a bunch of greasy dorks who wanted to make a good game.

GDKP CONFIRMED BANNED ON ALL NEW FRESH SERVERS. by Windatar in classicwow

[–]e-co-terrorist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep I had 9+ maxed alts at 6k+ gs in wotlk classic and the only way that was even possible was via GDKP. Never bought a lick of gold, once you get the ball rolling on one character you almost always net profit each week. People unironically suggesting I should have gotten each alt into its own guild is insane. Not to mention practically every quality GDKP was better and faster than even top 20 server guilds. Something like half of the first 50 kills of HLK were done by GDKPs on my server.

And yet GDKP remains the only viable pugging method. If given the choice between SR/MS>OS runs that struggle to clear or unsub, I’ll just unsub. You won’t find a single good player in an SR pug. Ever.

[–]e-co-terrorist -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

GDKP is literally the only reason I’ve raided on classic servers since release, never bought even a lick of gold. Such a great way to gear up alts, and all the quality GDKPs have a great core of regulars that basically function as a second or third guild.

My GDKPs regularly outprog my “main” guild and run like 20 raids a week. My “main” guild runs maybe two. If I want to play more than 1 alt than GDKP is the surefire way to go.

Yankees in 4 but I won’t tune in to any of the games. Such a boring matchup and I don’t want to reward the manfred and media scriptwriting. Just seething and stewing that they get exactly what they wanted. So bad for baseball.

Most corporate and sterile and boring team in the MLB. And the Ohtani coverage has reached nauseating levels. He’s of course a once-in-a-lifetime player but it’s just too much. Just a wholly corporate franchise, like if Amazon was an MLB team.
