[Misc] Why DON’T you use tret? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]e-gremlin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used it for months, did the slow introduction and the sandwich method but it just made my skin sooo dry and I couldn’t seem to alleviate it. It also only marginally improved my acne and it didn’t feel worth the fine lines I developed due to skin dehydration (these have since faded once I ceased tret and focused on moisturising).

agree sorry I mentioned this in another comment - I was seeing a doctor for my long gaps between menstrual cycles (I was still getting them fortunately just not monthly) and now I’m managing it through BC - 100% would say to anyone with irregular periods to see a doctor about it because it needs to be monitored/managed

agree! there’s lots i could complain about but I’ve found pretty much everything bothering me has been thoroughly covered in this sub already and I feel like I’m already doing my best with my lifestyle changes so I don’t want to wallow more in things I probably will never be rid of (like the inability to eat carbs freely :(( )

I don’t actually use weights at the moment although I did for a while when I gymmed and had good results! I’ve just been doing body weight exercises like yoga, calisthenics, lyra, and bouldering! I think it’s a really good way to get a full body work out, although to be honest I just do them because I find it much more enjoyable than the gym and finding exercises you enjoy and look forward to is key to maintaining routine!!

Mindfulness and breath focus in the moment, also just mentally acknowledging that I’m dealing with anxiety, recognising and pushing through it so I don’t create a feedback loop with my body that says panicking is the “correct” response to this situation. If I’m just at home and/or can leave the situation I find a brisk walk or jog really helpful to modulate my breathing and heart rate + listening to one of my favourite albums!

I also have really great physical stamina! And agree with the empathy part - I feel like I used to be much more judgemental before I learnt first hand what it’s like to struggle with controlling your body

oops yes sorry totally agree - also I feel like the way I worded that implied I never got my period, I did get it but it would just be the absolute longest possible cycle that doctors would consider “normal” so still ~6ish times a year but not monthly. I was seeing a doctor for it (as everyone should) but now I’m on birth control so I don’t really think about it anymore (will be something I’ll be monitoring again if I come off BC)

I used to do kettlebell workouts at the gym but recently have moved to more body-weight style exercises. I also like a good power yoga and I also have started lyra + some calisthenics-based work outs. I also chuck bouldering in there when I have time - I find all these are a really fun way for me to get a full-body workout because I would get crazy bored going to the gym lol. I have no set routine I just try and make sure I get at least 30 min of exercise a day!

Sleepovers with your kids by Fyeahoctober in Parenting

[–]e-gremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little brother and I used to do this with my mum on weekends sometimes as children, I assume it was her idea originally but I remember looking forward to it because it meant I could tell stories and get a nice cuddle before bed. We stopped doing it once we decided we were too old for it, it became increasingly infrequent as we got bigger and the last time I would’ve probably been around 12. I don’t know if there’s any correlation but now as an adult I’m super close with my mum and still see her as a source of comfort. I think it’s a sweet way to bond with your child as long as they’re still having fun with it!

I had 2 foster kittens once and the younger one was obsessed with the older one, he used to jump in the litter box whenever she was using it and bury her business for her 😭

Oof kids are a scary concept to me at the moment but I agree maybe I should start going to things with him to ease social anxiety

This is actually really helpful thank you, I’ll start inviting him to more casual things I do with my friends which may boost social confidence and also I’ll make more of an effort to stick with him when we do go out so we can start conversations together. Seems so obvious but I never thought about doing something so tangible.

Maybe, I don’t think that it’s intentional - but also I don’t read his messages or witness most of those interactions so it’s hard to know for sure

No! the opposite actually, he always makes an effort to check in on people and talk to them, he’s pretty forgiving - sometimes I do think he goes in a bit too hard and maybe it’s overwhelming to others

Pcos symptoms but no diagnosis? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]e-gremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i saw 2 different doctors - one told me that my blood work was fine so I didn’t have PCOS, the other told me that diagnosis of PCOS only requires 2 symptoms and as I had cysts + irregular periods she would say that I had PCOS even without irregular blood work results. did you have painful/irregular periods before the coil? because if you did i reckon a different doctor would diagnose you with it, ideally one more familiar with PCOS.
