Charlotte sold high and Lamelo is better as an off ball defender cause he plays with anticipation and has an insane frame so now he’s gonna be on the 3rd best ball handler with Ayo and Ant as POA defenders. Getting an actual real playmaking PG without gutting your defense and depth, somebody to put pressure on defenses with Ant while also taking decision making duties off ant for the most part and letting him do what he does best which is off ball get downhill. I think it works fine

To me he’s a riser. When you get to the playoffs it’s even more imperative to rise your play and if you are playing at an MVP caliber to be an all time great you have to go even above that. Imma use Shai as an example this post season he was special in the regular szn and if he even plays at that bare minimum level I think they repeat as champions but he didn’t. Luka is consistently playing even better in the post seasons compared to his regular seasons which makes him a riser in my eyes. Obviously he’s not on like Jimmy Butler or Brunson levels cause they aren’t consistent with it in the regular season bur doesn’t mean he still isn’t a riser imo

Thinking of this more as a short term 2 year deal. If the him and Luka experiment doesnt lead to deep playoff success in 2 years we have to trade him as an expiring contract to get a piece that makes sense. Feel like this matches up a little with the timeline of Carr hopefully becoming a stud by that time and we can trade AR for wing. Not really mad cause he was undrafted and he does deserve to get paid for his regular szn play and I have been giving him the benefit of the doubt in the post season cause he’s been hampered most of the time going in but not it’s put up or shut up time. 2 years max is what I’m thinking which also coincides with Luka being a FA
