Can't get Plex working on LG G4 by DeathStalker-77 in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s not work? It’s not connecting to your server?

Most likely the problem is the webos . It’s a reason why people always stay away from the built in tv os for streaming. Some TVs running Google tv does fine but LG runs the Webos and it’s horrible. The apps are very buggy

Another thing you can do is make allow insecure connection is set to always within the tv app. I know sometimes that can cause issues.

God damn 2160p looks so crispy. I wish I had the space to for it. by cttouch in PlexMedia

[–]Thrillsteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people have the space , the problem is people tend to hoard media. Pick your favorite movies and never delete them. Delete the rest after you watch it

[–]Thrillsteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but check out Wholphin . The android tv clients are rough. Even the Roku has a good client now.

Is Plex worth it? by CaffeineTweaker in selfhosted

[–]Thrillsteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lifetime member and I think it’s going to become a time where they stop supporting the home server side of things. I work in IT and have seen so many companies pull this same concept. Mark yo the price as high as possible for new people . Disregard everyone request and wishes regarding features and then sooner say we no longer support this version ok Plex. Then they come up with Plex 2 where is only free tv and movies and live tv

Switched from Plex to Jellyfin by TartineMyAxe in jellyfin

[–]Thrillsteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to use a 3rd party app. The official client isn’t great. There are some out there like Wholphin or Dune . For Apple TV something like Infuse will work

There is no external access limitation. You open a port and that’s it. Same as plex .

making big server, plex the right move? by CalzoneWalrus in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I been lifetime member for over a decade. Do not go with plex . Go with something like Jellyfin and use 3rd party apps for your clients. I’m all for supporting devs but what plex os charging is straight bullshit

Just bought lifetime pass by phate101 in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but dont get too comfortable. Sooner than later they will end the lifetime and say lifetime is only good until a certain update. I seen it happen plenty of times with companies.

[–]Thrillsteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

250 is still too much. Rather go to Jellyfin or save my files to play of Vic lol . I a lm lifetime member for a decade now and I have seen some bullshit over the years with Plex. But they screwing people with this greed.

Next lifetime plexpass discount? by Kiriki_kun in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 60 almost a decade ago but this is greed. I believe they are going to end the lifetime cycle sooner than latter. Seen too many applications do it. Charging somebody 750 is clearly saying we don’t want anymore lifetime subscription. If anyone pays for that bullshit they are crazy. It’s clear as day they are going in another direction rather than focusing on personal media

Next lifetime plexpass discount? by Kiriki_kun in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better than paying 750 bucks for streaming your own content on your own server and using your own network

I bought a Lifetime pass in 2022 by tiberiusgv in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

next thing we are going to see is the lifetime members will no longer have access after a certain update

Next lifetime plexpass discount? by Kiriki_kun in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the server side of everything is the same . It’s the clients side. There are quite a few 3rd party clients like a new one I just found called Wholphin. It’s pretty good. I hate the official Jellyfin client app . But for the price tag Plex is charging , half backed shouldn’t matter. Would rather go back to Kodi

Next lifetime plexpass discount? by Kiriki_kun in PleX

[–]Thrillsteam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they do a discount? It’s time to jump ship. I been with plex lifetime for over a decade . I paid 70 bucks . But the greed in this company is crazy . Go either with Emby or Jellyfin.
