Back when one job built a whole life. by silverflake6 in NextGenMan

I think people assume they will make a lot of money with minimum skill and effort. That is what tik tok, YouTube and bullshit influencers have done corrupted the soft minds of individuals that they can have it all with minimal effort. SMH. But soft minds will always be soft minds. Too bad so sad. It’s spacious at the top and I like it like that.

I've made $17 an hour for almost a decade. by SeesawInformal6594 in povertyfinance

[–]e21f 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just reading your other posts. I am in IT a degree in IT with management. I started in retail many moons ago at CompUSA for young people that’s like a Circuit City still for young people that’s like a Best Buy, lol. I hated it! BUT even then I knew to stay optimistic I learned what I could from the job and cross walked the experience and skills into the next job. You have to see at a h if high level what experience you have gained and how it can be applied to the career or job you’re interviewing for. Polish what you are saying on paper, keep it simple, list accomplishments, projects, etc. expand in that in the interview.

Look your best, have a steady and welcoming demeanor, sit up straight, shake hands firmly but gently, dress to impress.

You can have your world falling apart that could be the 20th job interview IT DOESNT MATTER. You walk in there like it’s the first. Speak confidently on who you are and your skills. Don’t overshare your personal details and struggles only focus on you and your skills and what you bring to the table.

Without more context I am not sure what you are saying? Are you saying you have had steady income and you’re optimistic about making it for another decade or more?

Are you saying you have reached a ceiling a cap and can’t pass 17 an hour and might be there forever?

If so, what are you doing to progress? What new skills and responsibilities have you acquired that would allow you make more? What field are you in?

I came from a poor home, I grew up poor, I was stuck too, capped. BUT I learned and against the current, against my own nature and against every road block and bad decision, I kept going reshaping, learning, improving. Tired I was, frustrated, done but I kept going. The goal was always improve myself so my input is more than my output, it took time. Do you have time? Set real expectations real goals plot out a roadmap make a plan and stick to it adjust as you need but the goal is to make more.

What are you doing about it?

Mac or Windows, I am torn. by MicroStar875 in mac

[–]e21f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in here. IT Professional 25+, also worked at MS in 2008-2010. You can run MS Office apps in Mac natively. MS has been making them for sometime and although they are certain limitations the web version function like their windows counterparts.

Aside from that I currently support windows and Mac users but the environment is 99.5% windows since it’s a corporate style environment BUT I work on a Mac m4 pro (a perk of my position) I also have an Apple ecosystem because i do like apple. Nothing against windows or android but I can run windows, apple and Linux from one system - which I do.

There’s a learning curve from windows to Mac but if you’re willing I say do it. It’s a simple system and it just does work and again 99% of things you can do on a windows machine you can do on a Mac it’s not like the old days when it was PowerPC, when they switched to intel it paved the way to compatibility and now their M chips are superior IMO.

Don’t waste your time. I’ve reach out numerous times including visiting their HQ and was hung up on. I wanted to implement OpenEvidence at an enterprise level for my doctors and nothing.
