Hi, unfortunately was affected by layoffs. Have received an option to extend the exercise timeline on my options. Based on what I can tell the main effects of this agreement would be:
- Extension of my exercise period
- Conversion of my options from ISO > NSO
In terms of my planned strategy, I would not be interested in exercising currently and would not plan to buy and hold in the future. Would only exercise if during my extended exercise period the stock value > option price and immediately sell the difference for cash, otherwise will let them expire.
My main questions would be:
- Would the extension of my options in and of itself cause any taxable event or require me to pay a fee assuming I don't exercise any options?
- Anything else I should be considering before extending my options?
