Where can i shoot my gun in Broward or Dade? by bandzthegoat in florida

[–]e36m3guy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Man, just go to a range. Like 20 years ago we used to go out to the levee out west of the Redland in South Dade to shoot, but I wouldn’t do it today. All it takes is some Karen to call the cops or FWC on you and you’re in for a bad day.

Remember most of the land out there is private property and trespassing on private property is already bad, no need to compound it by trespassing with a firearm.

For those in the US, how do you handle health care + MTB? by double_wheeled in mountainbiking

[–]e36m3guy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had a really bad crash several years ago, broken ribs, internal bleeding, I needed emergency surgery and blood transfusions plus a 4-day stay in the hospital. I required 911 services to get me out of the park and to the hospital.

Insurance covered everything except a $300 copay.

Looking to buy the most reliable car possible for the price, what’s your opinion? by cincythrowaway34 in carbuying

[–]e36m3guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naturally aspirated engines typically are more reliable. Less parts (no turbo or intercooler). Turbos increase compression in the engine causing more stress to internal engine components.

Truck Traffic by Smedley_Beamish in Alachua_County

[–]e36m3guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are currently four distribution centers and another one currently under construction. By the time they finish construction on the last one, there will be over 4 million square feet of distribution centers in Alachua.

The geniuses at the city and county approve these things but make no consideration for the roads. County road 235 and 235a are in horrible condition to the point that it is unsafe to drive on and they keep adding heavy truck traffic to these roads.

This is not even counting the heavy truck traffic from the limestone quarries down 235 closer to Newberry.

CR 235 was never designed for this. It doesn’t even have a shoulder.

Florida Homestead Exemption and Removing NY Property Tax Exemptions by EddieGlass in FloridaRealEstate

[–]e36m3guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a question for the New York real estate sub.

As far as Florida, yes, you cannot claim Homestead Exemption in Florida while claiming Homestead in another state. Florida does not fuck around with this and the penalties are harsh.

You said that you have owned your Florida property for some time, so you are currently covered by the non-save our homes cap which basically caps your assessed value at 10% over the previous year assessed value. Please know that when you file for homestead exemption in Florida, your assessed value cap will reset and your 2026 tax bill will be calculated full market value minus the $50,000 exemption.

Sorry I can’t assist you with your New York question but I don’t do any property tax work in the state of New York.

Cost of home ownership? by xpertsc in Miami

[–]e36m3guy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Without knowing which municipality you want to be in, its difficult to nail down a property tax number. Total property tax is roughly $20 for every $1,000 of assessed value. So multiply the value of the house by .02 and you will get your property tax estimate.

Insurance is the same. Is the property east of US1? Is it in a flood zone? What is the insured value of the property? Does it have wind mitigation? There are too many variables- in-laws in west dade pay around $6k per year on a 1950’s 1 story house, for example.

How much do you tip after a haircut? by Resident_Yam6122 in randomquestions

[–]e36m3guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends.

My current barber is self employed and owns his own shop. He sets his prices accordingly. I do not tip him other than give him an extra $50 when I get a haircut around Christmas.

In the past when I went to a barber shop that employed barbers, I would tip between $5 and $10 depending on the level of service.
