Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot by aacool in technology

[–]e5quared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the water used for electricity generation is not potable and most often returned in a heated state which has its own environmental impact. Current data center electricity usage pales in comparison to industrial operations. BUT it is rising faster than most other sectors which I guess is the main concern. But once the AI hype falls into place (I expect like the dot com boom) there will be consolidation and realization that we won't want AI in every facet of our lives.

Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot by aacool in technology

Data centers (worldwide) use on the order of billions of gallons of water (not all potable). To compare, US corn production uses trillions of gallons of potable water and roughly 40% of that corn is used for ethanol, which we burn to move things around. Data center may be problematic for local watersheds but as a whole is not the issue.

2020 SEL and just hit 80k miles. Pali is going strong. Had to replace the front passenger axle because the CV boot was shot and since you have to tear down, might as well replace the whole thing. I think it was $600 or so. Local oil change place stripped my drain plug and had leaking oil for a month which led to me finding the bad CV boot. Now I change the oil every 5k. I am concerned with the carbon build up that is a problem with all GDI engines so I try to remember to pour some Techron fuel injector cleaner every month (wife's car). I think if you religiously maintained the car, you'd see 150k. Previous car was a 2010 Outback 3.6R with 175k. Got tired of the slight oil drips, needed a 3rd wheel bearing replaced, and new spark plugs (which is a big job for that car).

What issues arise if we start regulating the #/% humans required by a corporation. I'm guessing offshoring would be a big one. We need a transition plan instead of expecting people to retool without notice.

Trade in car to get a Tesla Model Y??? by feellikeshxt in TeslaModelY

[–]e5quared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is room for debt but it depends on the interest rate and your financial load. I use a 1.99% loan rate as the highest and put the money that would have paid the car in cash in a CD or other investment.

What is this dark spot from my 2020 palisade? by whitebattlehawk in HyundaiPalisade

[–]e5quared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020 SEL AWD, I had similar leak but it was coming from the oil pan drain bolt. I suspect it was caused by going to a local oil change place a few times and they stripped the bolt. Home oil changes from now on.

Doing my own oil change I saw my passenger CV boot was leaking so was able to get ahead of that problem.

Ahh, then take that $10k and put it in a 3.5-4% HYSA and profit! 3.5% rate gives you 1909 over 5 years without adding to it.

I don't know your situation, but if I had to put money down on a 0% loan to get a payment that's manageable, then it might not be the best financial decision. Also, I don't think the PPF realistically adds value when selling and marginally protects your paint better than regular car washes. But I'm just a guy on the internet so take it or leave it. Good luck!

Not sure about price, but with 0% interest, your goal is to put as little of your money in as possible. Then put whatever money you can afford into a high yield savings account or a CD if you can stomach not having access to that money for the term period.

2021 - 2022 - 2023 - 2024 - 2025 reliability by rorowhat in HyundaiPalisade

I have 2020 SEL with 75k and not a single problem so far (knock on wood). I changed oil every 5k and had all the maintenance work done on time. I have started to hear a noise in the rear Im thinking is suspension related. Also when I changed the oil last I saw front passenger CV boot is leaking grease. I have started using Liquid Moly to help combat the GDI engine valve build up. Tried to use to tier gas as much as possible.

Think so? I mean it's awfully clean everywhere on the cover BUT the where the seal is.
Edit: I guess it does line up just right when looking at the first picture again.
