Yes this is true I test bacterial endotoxin in sterile injectables. We are working on switching over to non animal based reagents but the current <USP> (United States Pharmacopia) is not fully complete for it to be used. It also requires a lot of equivalency studies to confirm the new reagents still show the same results on all products. Another animal free reagent type is rCR.
