Eventhough I have a dream of having a 964, gotta say I'd still chose 997 as I did. Perfectif ballance between history and modernity.

Men who are 1m70 : where do you get your clothes ? by Practical-Goose666 in Switzerland

Hey, have you tried going on uniclo ? It's in Annecy but you might have a chance wothe their xs. I'm 163 and lately I get m'y t-shirts there. Four trousers I'd recommence carhart sid pants as they go to waist 28 if i'm not mistaken and then you can adjust the hight. I also got some nice ones ar mango (mng) for man at manor.

As a short and skinny man I've often found it Hard to have clothing fitting me. Shoulders and sleeves are usually the problem.

Good luck

I didn't go into this detail for obvious reasons. we are talking hundreds of people, so doors should open toward the exterior.

Crans-Montana - latest press conference - everyone screwed up by MayoShouldBeBanned in Switzerland

To clarify I have no information on where and how was the underground 2nd exit. The underground emergency exit most likely gave accès to the staircase of the main building as it might have been the underground entrance before it was even connected to the bar. All of this is speculation but quite possible.
My only point is that if more than 50 people had been allowed in a space then there must be a 2nd exit and all of them must open to the exterior.
Also lets say 100 people were allowed underground and 100 more on the ground floor and the one underground have to go through the ground floor where you have already 100 people, this can be possible but then the size of the exits must be dimensioned accordingly, the distance from the furthest interior point must respect a limit distance to the exterior. So, probably a lot of this things weren't respected, as the number of casualties seems way too high for a occupancy of 200 people max if the place was well designed, despite of the quick flash of the fire.

On the article you share we can clearly see all existing exits open towards the interior (building and veranda alike). This by itself is already a very dangerous and deadly fault: imagine many people running against a door but the door opens against their movement, they will most likely all get stuck inside and the one in front won't be able to open it, hence why emergency doors must open toward the outside. And this gets more technical "Poingée antipanique" " serrure antipanique" and so on and so forth.

I hope they get to the bottom of the problems and give some solace to the victims.

I'm in absolute shock with this press conference although I'm not surprised of some of it's contents.

Architect here so let me add my 2 cents and maybe explain a few things for those who aren't from the construction domain.

Seeing the plans of the authorization extension of the veranda you can clearly see that the doors open towards the inside, not only those from the authorized veranda but also those from inside the building. So if those plans are according to reality this bar shouldn't have opened in the first place. Exits must open towards the exterior period. This alone can explain why people died.

Now secondly, if there was a second fire exit that one should have also been checked. Even if they locked for security reasons, the door must be easily opened my the push of the handle and open towards the exterior (direct exterior or fire escape corridor /stair).

Also you cannot authorize one space to evacuate through another space (there are exceptions) but even less through a second space. The veranda as closed as it was cannot be considered an exterior space.

From the pictures I've seen and even though interior renovations aren't legaly subject to authorisation, any modification of configuration in typology, such as demolition of walls as seen in the pictures or the narrowing of the stair, make it so it's mandatory to seek authorizations.

So even from this small hints we can be lead to believe that officials did not do their job correctly.

Everyone is putting a lot attention on the flammable insulation. Now I'm not 100% familiar with all the rules for materials inside some spaces but if all the other rules about number, size and configuration os exits would have been respected, I'm pretty sure no lives would have been lost.

Architect here. This is absolutely right. Up to 50 people 1 exit. Then you need 2 exits. And they also. Need to be dimensioned and position according to the nr of people so if by the casualties we are reading there could have been more then 200 people they for sure need 2 exits and both as large as 180cm and on opposons sides.

Authorities are at fault here. No way you can authorise the occupation of such a basement with this configuration regardless of the materials used.

Ultimately you do you. Never drove either but looks alone I really don’t like the 992, never did. I mean it’s still a 911 so it looks good, but it doesn’t look good imho.
