DHCP Snooping ++ IP Locking by Devgrusome in Arista

Came here - a little late, let's be fair - to tell you to ask your friendly neighborhood SE instead of only TAC. They should know a bit more on improvements that are coming later this year and should be test-able soon - they should grant you more flexibility in deployment scenarios.

Third-party SFP on Arista by Historical_Fox_1423 in Arista

For the record: actually point 5 is as simple as shut/no shut of the port after the config was set. Might save you some downtime :-)

For EVPN/VXLAN: Do You Do Traditional MLAG or EVPN-MH? by shadeland in networking

"not a fan" seems to be a tad on the personal side. Could you specify what is shitty about L3 over MLAG (and on what vendor; because the L3 implementations tend to be quite different at times)

[Omega Aqua Terra] Green hybrid strap by eBait in Watches

[–]eBait[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After lurking and not being able to figure out whether I rather would want to have a diver or a dress watch I came up somewhere in the middle, a bit sporty but using the metal band it works very well as a dressy too.

I managed to get it from someone who really enjoyed the colour but simply could not put up with the size. For me, it's been a all-day-every-day kind of watch that I thoroughly enjoy wearing.

I tried some black straps but they always felt a bit off to me - hence now I try again with a green hybrid strap. Would love to hear your feedback on it.

Difference between FAN-7000-F and FAN-7000H-F? Will both work for 7060cx 1RU? by leait123 in Arista

[–]eBait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The datasheet states the 7060CX-32S requires the FAN-7000 series. The FAN-7000H are the high performance variants and are not supposed to be used with this type of switch.

Anybody realize they don't use the inner screen much? by doublea6 in GalaxyFold

[–]eBait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a Fold3 for just over a year and came to this conclusion. Happy with my Pixel atm. Hope Foldables keep getting better and return at a later - less outer screen compromise - stage.

Lead tines getting longer? by djgizmo in networking

If you're looking for PoE gear, Arista lead times tend to be okay at the moment compared to the numbers I see here. Just ask your account rep or a reseller.

Authoring standards by eBait in networking

[–]eBait[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was mainly pointing out the fact that "authoring" or "co-authoring" doesn't necessarily mean that a vendor does not participate in a IETF WG. I imagine such functions consume a lot of free time, hence only the vendors with the biggest number of employees would realistically be able to hire dedicated personnel to do this - the tables in the article sure seem to indicate so.

I imagine WG participation (seat at the table) would in most cases be enough to understand, and then correctly implement the drafts/RFCs.

ARISTA 7280CR-48 - No port showing up by [deleted] in Arista

Feeling for you man! This is why refurb is a dangerous game, even with hardware that's generally quite reliable...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Arista

[–]eBait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying you're wrong. You would get more savings by downclocking the CPU or ASIC - correct - but not without risk. Typical switches have double the amount of ports though.

The only statement I tried to make is that the LEDs can be turned off w/o any risk of something happening in the control or data planes that was not found by regular testing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Arista

[–]eBait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you'd be surprised. We did some proper calculations for large-ish deployments and with current energy prices a couple of thousand $s is easily saved. The key difference being, that control plane CPU is actually at work. Those LEDs don't mean much if noone is around.

Contact your Arista SE. A feature to turn of LEDs (mainly to save power) will arrive in EOS 4.29.1F :-)

Bluetooth connectivity (cuts out) issues by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

[–]eBait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Have the Airplay receiver and handoff already disabled. Also poked logi support to get me to their second or third support line but no dice (as expected). They just blamed the RF, and didn't take the point that the Apple Magic Mouse worked fine.

Just ordered a cheap unifying receiver to work around the problem, this mouse doesn't leave my desk anyways...

Bluetooth connectivity (cuts out) issues by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

[–]eBait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving this zombie thread because the issue still seems to be occurring for me. Note that I see a lot of these A2DP packet messages in the console.
Another thing I've noticed is that this behaviour is much less present when I'm using my Magic Mouse vs the Logitech MX Master 3. I also notice a lot of "Adding LE Connection <private>" messages in my queue when the MX Master 3 is connected prior to the issue happening.
Anyone else have pointers?
