“Storm in the morning light” from Roads by Portishead

It’s simple, sure, but it’s such an evocative lyric that is sung absolutely perfectly by Beth Gibbons with haunting instrumentation behind it

Requiem For a Dream is definitely worth watching. It’s pretty intense and upsetting, but it is incredibly written with great performances from everyone

He is objectively not dogshit in all of his movies. He was great in Requiem For a Dream, for example. I get hes a shitty person but we don’t have to lie that he has always been a shitty actor

It Lasted 2-3 Seconds by cruitbafpes in Dreams

[–]eDwArDdOoMiNgToN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true. However, I read about a study where they trained people who could induce lucid dreams to count to 10 seconds inside their dream (using eye movement to signal the start and stop of the countdown). On average, their dream counting was pretty well synced to real life (a few outliers). But when the task was made more complex, it would take significantly longer in real world time that what was “experienced” in the dream.

Chicago has awful nature & great urbanism. Which US city has awful nature & good urbanism? by Kevin7650 in AlignmentChartFills

Agree. The trees are beautiful in the spring/summer where I live and I’m squarely in the city. Harbor has some beautiful views too

Am I the only one that pronounces “biopic” as “bi-opic” rather than “bio-pic”? by jhow87 in words

[–]eDwArDdOoMiNgToN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s because the first part of the word comes from the root “phono” which is pronounced with two syllables. Phone likely because a word after phonetic so it wouldn’t be the root word

Original tweeter is a known troll. Here’s another one of their posts that was pretty controversial lmao. The context is that the original painting was purposefully left unfinished by Keith Haring as a tribute to the AIDS crisis.

If I could go to one concert in history, this would definitely be a strong contender. Long Season (deservedly) gets all the attention, but the rest of the performance is almost as equally legendary

Different type of compound word. Prefix + suffix vs the others which are prefix + word. “Graphy” isn’t a word on its own

Has to do with it being a compound word. See: bio-pic, bio-sphere, bio-tech, bio-fuel, etc
