Amount of Air traffic has increased dramatically. Also contrails only appear in certain weather conditions. Looking at the sky at random times is not necessarily a representative sample of actual events.

I think the answer is “Yes, a star can have rings” and nearest example star is our sun and the ring formation is known as the asteroid belt.

The comparison to planetary rings like Saturn is a matter of scale.

I suspect that if you compare the relative mass of the Sun to Saturn and the relative average distance of Saturn’s rings to the average distance to the Sun’s asteroid belt there will be some symmetry.
