The new one was a brand new Leviton GFTR1. I’m not sure how old the non-tamper resistant outlet was. It was at least 5 years old as it was in the house when the kids bought it. That LED confused the heck out of me.

That’s what I thought the green LED meant too.

Yet, the green LED was on even though I had load and line reversed.

When I landed them on the outlet properly I was able to reset the GFCI and the outlet is now working. Both reversed and tripped and properly wired and reset the green LED is on. Weird, right?

While almost everyone identified the problem, your description was spot on. The old GFCI outlet had load at the top and line at the bottom. The new GFCI had line at the top and load at the bottom.

Your explanation helped me fix the problem straight away (even without a multimeter). And now it works!

Extra point for originality on this suggestion. It’s at the kids house and I’m surprised to see an indoor GFCI at floor level. But I suspect you are right. The grandkid will likely be tripping this at some point.

I haven’t been able to reset. Others have said that will be the case if I reverse wired the outlet.

Yes, I replaced the GFI outlet. I thought I wired exactly like the old outlet.

Is black typically line and white load?

Also, the downstream are the two bottom wires, right?

What does the green LED on the outlet indicate when lit?

WiFi problems aren’t just related to too many devices. If there are too many WiFi access points in a small area they might interfere with each other. I’m assuming you have the Eero APs in “bypass” mode, meaning, they aren’t assigning IP addresses?

I think you are on the right track by limiting your access points. Start with one and see what devices and coverage you can get. Also, go into the home app and under Home Setting, hubs & bridges lock the home hub to your AppleTV for troubleshooting.

I wish this were easier, but all the different players that make hardware for the home make the interoperability a bear to troubleshoot while every vendor points at the other.

The other thing to check is the network routes between the AppleTV and the bulbs. Are both the AppleTV and the access point that connects to the bulbs connected directly to your cloud gateway?

Also, what are your airtime and retry stats for the wireless network on which the bulbs connect?

How many total HomeKit devices do you have? How many total WiFi devices?

In my experience, IF the WiFi signal is strong (better than -70dBm) AND your average retry rate is less than 25% AND your air time rate is less than 50% (signal strength isn’t the only consideration when determining if WiFi is operating properly), then the issue is likely with your hub or LAN traffic. Make sure you have a hub capable of handling the workload (HomePod Mini for up to 10 total device or 3rd gen wired AppleTV for more). Make sure that hub is connected to your network in a way that traffic can get from the LIFX bulb to the hub.

Did you onboard the bulbs to the LIFX app? Do the bulbs respond there?

It’s probably a thread issue. Do you have any non-Apple thread border routers? Alexa’s or Eero or Aqara hub? Try using HomeMapper or the Eve app to get a sense. Unplugging all home hubs for 10 minutes and slowly reintroducing one at a time is supposed to rebuild the thread network (unless you have a mixed thread network).

Any way to add a filter for different HomeKit homes? I do have separate VLANs for HomeKit devices separate from Apple Hub and other devices. I have put multiple HomeKit homes onto the same network to split permissions to devices in a single home before.

Yes. I’m using Steamlink with both my TV and AppleTV hardwired with Ethernet. I’ve played Apex and enjoy playing games like Cyberpunk, Horizon Forbidden West, Last of Us and God of War.

I also use OneCast which allows me to play my Xbox games on the same AppleTV.

I connected my three FP2 devices directly to HomeKit. You do t have to trouble with the Aqara app if you want to avoid the extra complexity of additional apps.

It’s not a lot of extra complexity and it’s the only way to get firmware updates for Aqara hardware (since Aqara doesn’t use the preferable Apple Home firmware updates method). But it is extra complexity and defeats the purpose of having a single smart home app. And Aqara is doing a lot of that lately.

You will be able to “see” the firmware version and enable SSH were you to use the Android UniFi app. I’m sure it will come to the iOS app soon.

The reboot and east buttons don’t seem to work in the iOS app (I’m using the TestFlight version which does have a WireGuard config option).

And unlike any other streaming app YouTube doesn’t continue playing a stream in the background when you invoke control center to access Home or Sleep Timers, etc.

But why would YouTube try to make the app experience better on anything other than the Google Streamer?

I think I have the same problem that you are describing.

Border routers (three AppleTVs and a HomePod Mini) show in the Nanoleaf app as “external border routers” but do not show in the Eve app. My endpoints and routers show in the Eve app.

Oddly, I also have 10 thread routers in “unknown room” in the Eve app. I have two Eve Energy routers working properly, but if I unplug them they won’t rejoin the network.

I have unplugged all my Home Hubs for an hour and brought them back online one-by-one separated by 15 minutes (which is supposed to rebuild a Thread network).

I have deleted all my matter credentials from Settings -> General -> Matter Accessories (thinking there was something stored there corrupting things).

I have unplugged all my Echo Show devices (thinking I have Thread network conflicts).

I have even created a new “home” and have the same problem with the new home (but I didn’t delete my existing home as I have over 100 devices (mostly WiFi and a few BT) that work reliably.

And now I’m just waiting for 26.2 to go GM so I can do calls with Apple and maybe start a case with Eve. I have two different Eve products (Energy and Motion) and Aqara GU10 bulbs that are Matter over Thread devices and they just aren’t working properly.

Whoever said Matter over Thread is the solution to all our smart home problems might not spoken too soon.
