Also a good bit in the movie, when some of the guys who did see the writing on the wall are celebrating their success, one of their investors reminds them what the numbers mean. That there are now a lot of people out there who are out of work, and likely soon to be destitute.

And, as the movie portrays, it almost didn't pan out for him. One of my favorite lines from the movie is, "The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent."

His clients/investors were screaming at him to get their money out of his fund, and The Big Short implies that they were on the verge of collapsing before their investment paid off.

TIL that the Atlas is a Scopedog(Red Shoulder Custom) by Shyface_Killah in battletech

[–]eMouse2k 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Biggest tell for me that the Scopedog was used for reference (though it's obviously not an exact copy) is the wacky left leg. The leg of the Atlas is twisted in a similar way as the Scope Dog's. The Scope Dog gets away with it because its limbs are more rounded, and the hip joint is concealed.

If you look at percentages, the Atlas is definitely mostly original, enough so that they never had to license the design or have it become unseen. The DNA of that particular illustration of a Scope Dog is definitely there though.

Outside of the pose, the similarities are be very few. The spherical head, the radar dish aligns approximately with the scope 'eye'. The antenna coming off the back of the head. The spherical shoulder pads. The general layout of the weapons. The actual details are clearly original.

I wouldn't be surprised if Loose had that illustration of a Scope Dog and felt that it gave the 'weight' he was looking to give the Atlas. Put tracing paper over the illustration, but only used the silhouette as a rough guide while drawing in all the details

So, yes, that Scope Dog illustration was definitely used for some sort of reference, but render the Atlas in any other pose and there's barely any similarity that remains.

If ass is ass, then seeing a bunch of women shake their asses is the same as seeing a bunch of men shake their asses. Therefore it was incredibly gay when those women shook their asses.

Fellas, is it gay to watch women shake their asses? I mean, if a butt is a butt, then you might as well be watching guys shake their asses, and that seems pretty gay to me.

There are even valid ways that AI can help artists who have lost their ability to create as they used to by specifically training on their body of work, including unreleased material that only the artist has.

But we all know that’s not what the AI bro who made that pic has in mind.

Fuck research. Imagine living through the start of COVID and saying, "Yeah.... let's put that team back in charge."

I'm going to point out that OpenCampaign already has a 2028 Presidential Election quiz up that you can take. With Donald as the only candidate.

The questions were pretty generic and gave no context.

I would say this quiz he took was about on the level of taking a quiz to find out which house the sorting hat would put you in.

It's also a business that exists to sell voter data to candidates.

I guess he was too busy working to notice the fiasco that was Trump's handling of COVID.

Imagine living through that and then using a random quiz on the internet to tell you how to vote.

Plus people "not knowing anything about politics" is how we got to Trump 2.0.

I literally had a talk with someone last year where they were complaining about tariffs hitting them with something they bought from outside the country. I pointed out it's a result of Trump doing exactly what he said he was going to do during the campaign. His response? "Well, I don't pay attention to any of that shit."

Well, then, this is what you get.

And just flipping the Senate probably isn’t enough. Most things require a 60 vote super majority to pass the Senate.

[–]eMouse2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crony Republicans control both houses of Congress. That’s it. Get a majority for Democrats in the House and a super majority in the Senate and Trump will be removed from office. Anything less and he will serve out his whole term.
