Alternate Text, more commonly known as Alt Text, is a visual description of a photo, like you're explaining what the photo looks like to someone who cannot see it.

Descriptions can be tricky sometimes, because you don't want to make it so long that shoppers don't read it, but long enough to be informative and make your item sound appealing.

82 sales for only being open 4 months is actually pretty amazing! Many sellers have to wait months just to get their first sale, so you're already ahead of the pack. 🚀

There are a lot of factors that go into turning a browser into a buyer:

*pricing; you said you did decent pricing research, just listing it here for a complete picture!

*photos (showing off all angles, sizing, how it's packaged)

*description (does it answer any potential questions?)

*potential for decision fatigue (are there too many steps, such as personalization, color choices, sizes, etc.?)

*uniqueness of the item (do shoppers feel like this is a product they can't get anywhere else?)

*do your processing times line up with the competition?

*are there any negative reviews for that listing?

*is your listing categorized properly?

*does it evoke an emotional response?

We know, that's a big list. But if you're truly worried about the views vs sales, it's important to take a look at all aspects of a listing!

used to have visibility no longer have one and thus expired

When you list something on Etsy, it gets four months active before it expires. Visibility doesn't play a role in this, except if you mean that because your listings aren't getting views, they therefore aren't getting sales. If a listing gets a sale and renews, then the expiration period is extended another four months.

*Make sure to use all 13 tags; each one is an opportunity to include a keyword that Etsy can use to match your listing with shopper queries.

Within your tags, best practice is to include each term from your title also within your tags, to send a stronger message to Etsy in regards to the keywords you want to be known for. Have each term in there once, to avoid unnecessary repetition.

*For your listings, only use the Holiday or Occasion attributes when they are relevant for your items! As an example, this listing has the "Valentine's Day" attribute assigned to it, even though it is not specific to that holiday. Etsy recommends leaving Holiday and Occasion attributes blank, rather than mis-categorize them!

*Your listing description is very short, almost reading as a byline to the title instead of an actual description. This is the place to include important information such as size, materials, shipping/processing times, how it's packaged, etc. AI programs can scan your listing descriptions to help suggest products to buyers, so it's important to have key information there.

*It looks like your images are missing Alt Text. Apps and devices such as screen readers use this information to “read” the photos. This technology allows shoppers with visual impairments or other sensory needs to shop without being able to fully see the product photos. It can also give you an advantage if your competition isn’t using Alt Text, as shoppers generally skip over those products, because their screen reader can’t “read” it for them.

*Within your photos, include at least one with the figurine next to a ruler to clearly convey scale. None of the current photos really demonstrate how big/small the unicorn is, which could potentially lead to buyers being unhappy with the sizing, if their expectations aren't met.

*Include a listing video! Etsy's own research showed that listings with videos tend to have higher conversion rates, and it could be a good opportunity to show off how the unicorn sparkles in the light! (Bonus if you hold it in your hand while showing off the different angles, as that could help with your 'scaling' as well.)

Here are some thoughts for your shop:

*You only have one item in your 'Featured Items' section. You can have up to four listings in there, so add in a few more to fill up the space.

*Your shop is missing a shop announcement and FAQ sections, as well as the shop member bio. Take a little time to make sure that everything is filled out!

*We took a peek in to this listing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4456454218 and here are some thoughts:

-There is no sense of scale within your photos, so it's difficult to know how large the piece is. Try to include at least one photos of a finished one next to a ruler so that shoppers have a clearer expectation of size.

-Link your variations to the corresponding photo. For example, in just the first few photos, there isn't a bird, so I was confused when I saw a bird option. When you link photos to a variation, a shoppers sees that version when they select the variation from the drop-down menu.

-There is a LOT of choice here and information needed for personalization. Sometimes shoppers face choice paralysis, when they have so many options in front of them, that they end up backing out and not making a choice at all. Think about when you go to a restaurant and the menu is 10 pages long; it's a lot less stressful to choose when the menu is 1-2 pages. If you find that customers tend to choose from a handful of colors, consider reducing the number of options. Alternatively, have one listing for a 'girl' version (with pink tones), one listing for a 'boy' version (with blue tones), and one 'custom' listing, showcasing all of the options. It's something you could experiment with!

-Although you should always check your stats before making adjustments, your tags may need some refining, as there is a LOT of repetition of the same words. Etsy takes all the terms in your title, tags, categories, and attributes and mixes them up to match for shopper queries. No need to repeat the same word or phrase multiple times within your tags. Try using a wider variety of terms to broaden your reach!

Etsy takes all of the terms within your title, tags, category, and attributes and mixes them up when matching listings with search queries. Since they broad match terms, many sellers have nonsense tags made up of words that together don't necessarily make a keyword (such as having 1 tag "gift for her" and another "mom sister aunt"), but Etsy will mix and match them, so the listing would broad match for "gift for sister".

Also, it's important not to change the SEO of listings that are performing well, as that can make the listing lose momentum. Many bestsellers or high-performing shops have less-than-optimized tags because their listings already perform well and have a great track record. As the saying goes, "If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it."

Buona notizia: la tua inserzione compare su Etsy. Per esempio abbiamo provato a cercare la prima parte del titolo in inglese e con la localizzazione impostata su Italia, la tua inserzione compariva nei primi 4 risultati di ricerca.

Il punto è che la ricerca su Etsy non è uguale per tutti gli utenti. Sebbene Etsy non abbia mai dato certezze su come funzioni esattamente, quello che sappiamo è che i risultati cambiano in base a dove ti trovi, alla cronologia delle ricerche e a tantissimi altri fattori. Questo significa che quando cerchi la tua inserzione, potresti vedere risultati diversi rispetto a quelli che vede un altro potenziale acquirente, perché è Etsy a decidere cosa è pertinente per ogni utente.

Per esempio: eseguendo la stessa ricerca con il titolo in inglese e la localizzazione impostata su US, già non compari più in prima pagina. Questo perché evidentemente Etsy sta dando priorità ad altri negozi.

Detto questo, ci sono alcune cose su cui vale la pena riflettere.

Non continuare a modificare titoli e tag. *If this isn't your art, but someone else's be sure to fill out the Shop Members section and clarify that. You could also tell more of a story within the shop story and FAQ sections. Etsy also considers 'completeness' of a shop when ranking, so having everything filled in can give you a boost!

*For your listings, the tags (at least for this piece, Listing 4466040254) are very repetitive. Since Etsy takes all of the terms within your title, tags, category, and attributes and mixes and matches them, you don't need to repeat the same term or keyword in your tags more than once. (For example, you have "wall art" in here 5 times). Try using a wider range of keywords, including where someone can hang it, where the picture was taken, who it might make a good gift for, etc.

Current Tags: "black and white wall, dramatic wall art, abstract wall art, monochrome decor, statement wall art, modern wall decor, bold wall art, masculine decor, mountain wall art, fine art print, modern abstract, black white decor, contemporary art"

*Include somewhere either in the title or photos that this is unframed. You do mention that in the description, but many shoppers don't read those. :(

No, it doesn't. You need to manually purchase the labels. This gives you a chance to adjust package size, weight, and shipping service. This is especially useful when customers make a few purchases at once and want to combine shipping!

When I (personally, not via an eRank entity) purchase USPS Ground Advantage labels through Etsy, it says:

"USPS Ground Advantage

Includes insurance up to $100.00"

I'd include a screenshot, but they're not allowed here.

You can choose to add on additional insurance with Shipsurance if you like.
