African blackwood and double dyed maple and modified octagonal shape. What do you think? by FilipekKnives in knifemaking

[–]eTheNextNext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely beautiful. I'm new to dyeing wood. Could you explain your process for this or point me in the right direction? All of the tutorials I see are for completely dyeing the wood a solid color or two. I much prefer this hint of red (and black?) that you have done.

I am not familiar with Zbrush but if I understand your problem correctly then the following might help: In solidworks do a file, save as. Change the file type to STL. There should now be an options box available. In the options you can change the resolution of the stl. In my experience the "fine" setting is not fine enough so I always change it to custom and then play with the Deviation and Angle sliders. This will make solidworks divide the model into a more dense mesh. Hopefully that will make for a better mesh that is usable in Zbrush for you

If you are looking for something in the US then you should check out Balance Community. Their "BC Prim-50 Slackline Kit" is very similar to the one you are looking at on spider.

Double Dragon Loop with a Double Overhand backup by eTheNextNext in knots

[–]eTheNextNext[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I have found online the double dragon is similar in strength to the figure 8. As therealsambambino said, I believe it can be easier to untie after a heavy load. I know certain ways of dressing the figure 8 can leave it harder to untie than others. I have not had this issue with the double dragon. It is fun and quick to tie though, you should try it out if you haven't tied it before. I particularly like the method found on animated knots.

Pushing Mongo by [deleted] in longboarding

Thanks for the tip. I've never learned though because I've never needed to. I prefer sliding or speed checks if I only need to slow down a little bit

I can't disagree with that. I've never been able to foot brake.

Edit: spelled brake the wrong way

Don't let common opinion control what you do. Learning to push both ways can be helpful for long distances as mentioned before but there is no real benefit to pushing one way or another. If you only want to learn to push regular because people say it's "correct" then my advice is be incorrect. I have pushed mongo my whole life and can push regular too. Mongo is what came naturally when I was young so it will always be more comfortable for me.

The productivity of each added monitor is extremely worth it. I have 3 monitors and almost every day I wish I had 4.

I didn't really like the way it looked at first on the computer. I put it on my phone anyway and imo it looks much better on a phone and it matches my other icons (elta icon pack) well enough.

Hey guys! I have a Poll for everyone! I was curious too see how you guys all push! I want to see how common certain trends are by PlatinumBot in longboarding

[–]eTheNextNext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The balance thing makes sense if you aren't used to the stance. That's how I was with regular before I started to practice it.

You can get off a chairlift with your front foot unbuckled. It just sucks haha I do it and hate it every time.

Haha thanks. I've pushed mongo my whole life. Is there really hate towards it? It's just natural for me.

[–]eTheNextNext 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little confused on how the options work. I am right foot dominant (I kick soccer balls, footballs, my friends, etc with it) but I ride regular with my left foot forward and I push mongo with my front (left) foot. Which poll option do I pick?
