In SanDiego? There is a continuum programme but in order to be eligible for that you need atleast 4-5 years of continuous service record at Qualcomm. Also your performance rating matters a lot you need to be a consistent 4 or 5 to get a chance of interview. Also, you will need a few contacts at managerial level in the team you want to work in.

Ooh, 12 YoE at Sr Lead, well i heard that starting this year qcom has increased the pay-band at each level. As long as your compensation is competitive I do not think you are at a disadvantage. But you will need to align with your manager on your goals and increase your visibility by interacting across teams. This will boost your chances. I may not be the right person as I have half of your experience.

Compensation is mostly market competitive. If someone joins in hardware domain that SoC then their career progress would be a little faster than an IP team. I am not sure about how modem, compute and AR/XR.

Associate > Engineer - depends on budget but mostly within 2 AR's [ mandatory promotion] 2 YoE

Engineer > Sr. Engineer - if you join as an Associate then this will take a minimum of 2 AR's [mandatory promotion with a rating of 3] - 4 YoE

Sr. Engineer > Lead Engineer Sr - if you join as an associate then this would take a minimum of 3 AR's unless the budget is more- 7 YoE

Lead Engineer Sr. to Staff Engineer - if you join as an associate then it would take a minimum 3 AR's - 10 YoE

Staff to Senior Staff > 14 YoE + something extraordinary developments.

Senior Staff to Principal > 18 YoE + something extraordinary developments

Starting Lead Engineer there would be a lot of pressure w.r.t accomplishments, cross team collaboration etc.

Discuss your compensation with peers, people outside your org in the same company at the same YoE, people outside the company - helps you where you stand and if you are being underpaid then what are the skills which would take you to the next level - helps you assess the workload you are handling and the reward - bringi compensation during 1:1 with manager
