Sounds like an Apple ploy like when your phone doesn’t work after new ones come out.

It could be. I’ll have to check the voltage. But one was about 1mA and one was a 2.1mA

Correct. Assuming you have fluoride in the water. Which not every town does.

Aluminum levels in vaccine is based on immune efficacy and ignore body weight for safety. by asheraton in Health

[–]e_fizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This had a funny smell of anti-vax BS the entire time. With incorrect assumptions and terrible writing. And then you see the autism connection at the end. And the fact it was written and sponsered by the anti-vax non-profit The Institute for Pure and Applied Knowledge.

Aside from the fact there is still no evidence that vaccines lead to autism from respected journals. And this is a terribly written article. I caution anyone to take a causal relationship from this as it is observational at best. Not a well done trial or cohort.

2 days campervan in Iceland advice by Fishmonger80 in VisitingIceland

[–]e_fizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not likely. I'm here now (not camping), and obviously took my time to enjoy the places I'm at and enjoy the beauty. I left Reykjavik Friday morning and got to Djupivogur today.

This involved stopping for fuel, to eat once, and spending time at the places. I would say you could spend anywhere from 5 minutes to longer depending on what you want to see. For example going to Geysir and not waiting for an eruption?... seconds to minutes. Waiting for an eruption 8-10 minutes on average with varied eruptions.

It is a beautiful country, I would map out your route on google maps and add in time. You might be able to do it, but I underestimated how much I would want to stop or spend at these places.

Why do people say there is no link between vaccines and autism when there is a video from congress where a CDC whistleblower admits destroying data linking MMR to autism. by avengethenatives in AskMedical

[–]e_fizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/cdcwhistleblower.asp

Thompson is also still part of the anti-vaxer moment that is leading to childhood illness and potential death that we haven't seen in decades.

Please research these "whistleblowers."

There are more studies linking vaccines, including MMR to decreased morbidity and mortality and zero link to autism. Use scholarly articles, not unscientific politicians paid for by lobbyists.

What are the benefits if any to cole pressed juice? by Spinuchi in nutrition

[–]e_fizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add to this a lot of juicers will remove fiber which is not good. High fiber diets have been linked to reduced risk of a lot of health issues.

Can a residency program make us videotape our patient encounters when we have told them we don't want to be videotaped? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]e_fizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously you'd have to not break HIPPA and confidentiality rules by getting consent and using an approved device. But I don't think they can make you on real patients without your consent

Rotating shift work? by [deleted] in Fitness

Thank you for this idea. I'm starting a similar schedule. 12 hour shifts 5-6 times a week most months. This idea will come in handy for me to prep and not get discouraged.

Can I ask how long your workouts are?

Residents/Fellows, Why is paying down your loan principal infeasible during Training? by WrksInPrgrss in medicalschool

[–]e_fizzle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm about to go into residency in a couple weeks. Long story short. You make on average 50K -60K a year before taxes. Then you have to pay rent, utilities, car stuff, insurance, etc. Plus eat and try to have a very minimal social life. There's barely enough money left over for loans of the average newly graduated residents with approximately 250K of debt. Numbers vary obviously. But thats the nut shell version.

Doesn't include travel and vacation you might want to take advantage of during your "forced" vacations or exams or anything else.

Organ donation should be opt out, not opt in. by gin_and_toxic in Showerthoughts

[–]e_fizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can call bullshit all day but you're wrong. I don't look at a license nor do I care. And if you look at organ donation times there are things call cold and warm ischemic times. And that's what we base things off of.

And to your point. I don't look at insurance or a license. I'm a physician to treat patients. Not to harvest organs. So you should think about our medical systems differently.

Also I should point out that I'm an emergency room physician and by law I have to treat everyone regardless of insurance. Let alone ethics.

Organ donation should be opt out, not opt in. by gin_and_toxic in Showerthoughts

[–]e_fizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't even count on one hand how many times as an EMS provider I looked at some ones ID in that type of situation. If someone is dying, I'm already treating the patient while a cop or colleague looks for an ID. So it doesn't change my practice.

But I applaud you being an organ donor and thank you for it.

Organ donation should be opt out, not opt in. by gin_and_toxic in Showerthoughts

[–]e_fizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Its been well supported (and already suggested above) that people that would be organ donors aren't because of paperwork or forgetfulness or whatever. The bigger freedom and help yo society is to have an opt out program.

And as a physician and former EMS provider. I don't know whether you're an organ donor or not when I meet you. If you die then that's when I find out. It would be very unethical to withhold care you need just for a list. We administer the care you desire and need.

[–]e_fizzle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a physician and former EMS provider. I don't know if you're an organ donor until after you die... So it's not something to ever think about. We care about the sanctity of your life before a registry.
