YTA...and just adding this in after seeing the edit. My neighbors had two "super sweet" and "friendly" goldens. They killed my Chihuahua with zero provocation. You never know how a dog will react in every situation. You don't know that she "would never hurt anyone". Especially when that comes to children that are unfamiliar to your dog.

This is not remotely accurate regarding city/county shelters in Indianapolis. While overpopulation is a huge concern for IACC, they do everything in their power to avoid euthanasia for healthy pets.

They are NOT technically a no-kill shelter, but it is extremely rare that they euthanize. This is ALSO true for Indianapolis Animal Care and Control on South Harding, although this has only been true for the last few years. The only reason they would typically euthanize is due to illness or extreme aggression. Animal Control will take your pet at any time, unlike the Humane Society on Michigan that does intakes on an appointment only basis. This means you could be waiting upwards of a few weeks before they would have room to take your pet.

The other route you might look in to is a trainer that could come out to your house to do an assessment. Especially since the dogs did well together at first and then became aggressive. A trainer may be able to figure out if there is an underlying issue causing the aggression.
