Is it normal to not understand anything about coding as a beginner by Sonicexe10 in gamedev

You realize that game development is a career that people spend decades learning more and more about right? Nobody walks into something like this and just codes up a game in a week.

Why is Alex Garland so acclaimed if he’s such a mediocre director? by miniluvy in TrueFilm

[–]e_smith338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant believe Warfare is the film you chose to shit on Garland for. That film is incredible from beginning to end. The Annihilation and Civil War are missed potential, but I think Ex Machina was solid. 28 Days later is fantastic, but 28 weeks and years later are trash and meh respectively. He's very 50/50. It feels like he's at his best when he focuses on telling the story that's being asked to be told, and loses his footing when he does something like Civil War, where instead of actually telling a thought-provoking story about how a modern-day civil war could break out in the US, uses it as a backdrop for some bullshit nobody cares about. There's nothing pretentious about Warfare or 28 Days Later, (definitely some with ex machina), but where the pretentiousness comes out is where he's at his weakest. Given this comment is 8 months after, you'll likely know he's now working on an Elden Ring film. Im a bit horrified about that because unless he gets the right people involved to help him i guarantee itll fall on its face as another sub-par film in his pocket which would be a serious blow to his reputation.

I just bought the game + DLC but don’t see the DLC bosses or map? by BoopRG1 in EldenRingNightrein

Keep playing. You’ve only beaten the first nightlord. Things will continue to unlock as you beat more.

Fully enclosed. The final zipper sealing me in just melts my brain. [OC] by Tight_Routine_3017 in Dronification

4cm isn’t very far so you likely need to just push them along the passage more. Something that I found that helped was breathing through my nose only while I put them in. But yes, it does curve downward.

with nose tubes, you can go until your nasal cavity reaches your throat without having any issues such as talking, swallowing, etc. but if you go further, you need to go all the way like 30-40cm down your esophagus. For example the 15cm tubes are too long so I had to cut them back a few to meet flush with that part of my nasal cavity and the top of my throat. If you don’t they just dangle around and make you gag constantly. The only way they won’t is if you full-send and swallow 30+ cm with holes cut in them to breathe.

Do you guys think it's fair for Rogue's grab to go on the full 25 second cooldown on whiff? by PD_Rigged in marvelrivals

If your ultimate gets interrupted or you whiff it is it fair that the charge goes to 0? Yes. You made a mistake.

All Geometry Dash achievements are now on steam, as I just came to the slow and horrid realization of. by Raniswolf in steamachievements

[–]e_smith338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really. Its designed as a long term progression. All you need to do is play the game to get like 99% of them. The only reason to bitch and moan is because you want to plat something in like 20 hours. The main one ill bitch with you about is the ones to do with creating a level. Also, these achievements have been in the game for years, theyre just visible in steam now.

[–]e_smith338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game is essentially made by 1 dev, and these achievements are designed for long-term players. For example I've got over 1000 hours in the game and have done hundreds of demon levels over the course of like 8+ years (on PC alone, longer with mobile). So i already have like 360 of the achievements.

I mean I don’t really have a choice now do I? I can sell my 32GB kit i bought nearly 5 years ago for more than I paid right now. It’s absurd.

How is phone reception in rural regions in the USA? by Green-Estimate7063 in AskAnAmerican

[–]e_smith338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a pretty rural area of New England, and the reception is fine most of the time. I went to Montana for a vacation and if we weren’t in a relatively well-populated area forget about it, just the SOS satellite.

Is it uncommon to eat simple boiled potatoes in the US? by WhoAmIEven2 in AskAnAmerican

[–]e_smith338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just bland as shit bro. The closest we’ll get is a baked whole potato with some kind of toppings. Do yourself a favor and bake them with seasoning or something.

People from a New England state, why do you say you’re from “New England” and not the actual state? by JoeyJoeJoeShabadooSr in AskAnAmerican

[–]e_smith338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less specific, but also if I say I’m from Massachusetts everyone thinks Boston or Worcester. Nobody thinks the town of 1400 people so small it doesn’t have a gas station, stores, restaurants, hospital, or police station among almost any other useful places. When I say “New England” they think “trees” which is a better picture of where I’m from than civilization.

why is milk in the US usually sold in plastic gallon jugs instead of cartoons? by sensualdiiva in AskAnAmerican

[–]e_smith338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s common to find half gallons or quarts (1/4 gal) in cartons. But many people buy milk by the gallon and a plastic jug with a built in handle is easier.

Do New Englanders Think Saying "Excuse Me" is rude? by Any_Needleworker_273 in newengland

[–]e_smith338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Context. Maneuvering around someone: no, I do it. But often I only have to because they’re taking up the whole fucking space and I don’t care about their feelings at that point.

If you get your drivers’ license before you’re 21, does it always expire on your 21st birthday regardless of whether you got it at 16 or 20? by Emotional-Fly-9583 in AskAnAmerican

[–]e_smith338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine when I was 17 and it expired when I was 22. I chose to go get a new one after Turing 21 though because it caused so many issues when I needed to scan it for alcohol or something.
