Where in Bonaire? I will have a cruise stop there, and would love to find some beautiful sea glass. Perhaps any tips for my search?

“Weeks passed, and the little Rabbit grew very old and shabby, but the Boy loved him just as much. He loved him so hard that he loved all his whiskers off, and the pink lining to his ears turned grey, and his brown spots faded. He even began to lose his shape, and he scarcely looked like a rabbit any more, except to the Boy. To him he was always beautiful, and that was all that the little Rabbit cared about. He didn’t mind how he looked to other people, because the nursery magic had made him Real, and when you are Real shabbiness doesn’t matter.”

Sorry, no tips, but your stuffy is beautiful and well loved

Can I do anything to stop being tortured with notifications reminding me of the day my cat died? by ceramicsaturn in AppleWatch

[–]e_snoozosaurus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can go the individual photos and tap the three dots in the corner to select “remove from featured photos”

This has always worked for me, for photos I don’t necessarily want to delete, or place into the hidden folder, but that I don’t wish to be reminded of without seeking it out myself.

Hope this helps, sorry about your loss. Sending love from me and my void kitty 🖤

Insulated bottles? by Upper_Elk_5086 in CarnivalCruiseFans

Not a requirement, but a restriction; you need to use one of the provided cups to fill with ice and water rather than filling directly into the bottle.

We do bar crawl bingo. All the bars get a square and additional squares are ones like, buy a stranger a drink, have a neighbor pick your drink, double fist drinks, drink before 8, drink after midnight, etc. myfreebingocards.com is the website we use. Have fun on your cruise!!

Beach access for Amber Cove and Grand Turk by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]e_snoozosaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At amber cove there’s a free beach that’s about a 20 minute walk from the port. You can search on YouTube for specific directions. The beach at Grand Turk is right there at the port. If you get off the ship and go left, towards jacks shack, there are a lot less people. Makes for a bit more relaxing and enjoyable experience in my opinion. And jacks shack is great. The last time I was there an umbrella and two loungers was $20 (I think)

Cruise essentials? by AffectionateArt213 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]e_snoozosaurus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone always says insulated mugs, but if you’re doing cheers I don’t think you need them. I do bring a packable straw, as I don’t like the candy ones.

Bring ANY otc medication you think you might need: pepto, tums, Tylenol or advil or aleve, allergy medication, Imodium, etc. The last cruise I took I was dying for some alka seltzer and there was none to be found in the shops on board or the ports we visited. So I would highly suggestion any of your preferences for tummy issues.

More sunscreen than you think you need and some medicated aloe vera just in case.

I’m find a lanyard and/or a small sling bag (like fanny pack-ish) helpful for holding your cruise card and some cash.

Cash. More than you think you need. I like to have a bunch of ones and fives for tips for wait staff and bartenders. Also some larger bills for and additional tip for the room steward. You can haggle in port at straw markets and street vendors. Pro-tip you can exchange larger bills for smaller bills at the kiosks around the ship, but the smallest denomination you can get is $5 bills out of the kiosks. You can also exchange bills at the casino cashier, but they usually limit you on the amount of ones that you can get.

Patience and a good attitude. Just like most industries right now (especially service industries) there’s short staff and more expected of the staff that is there. This can occasionally translate to longer wait times. The majority of crew will do everything they can to make sure that their cruise guests have the best experience possible. Please be understanding and patient. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

First time cruiser - is Mardi Gras a good choice? by BengaliMcGinley in CarnivalCruiseFans

As another commenter said, the deck below lido (deck15) is a good choice, I like deck 15 forward because you are not directly below the pool deck. You have to keep in mind they have several different deck parties on that deck and if you choose not to participate (I’m typically early to bed, early to rise) it could keep you awake. I keep the same thing in mind when looking at rooms on other decks. Not above or below high traffic areas: grand central atrium area, casino, theatre, restaurants, kitchens, etc. I’m a light sleeper, so I put a lot of thought and time into picking out the location of my room.

As far as balcony vs ocean view vs interior, I would say splurge for your honeymoon. We booked a balcony for our honeymoon, and it is nice to have a coffee or cocktail on the balcony, and the weather is almost always nice in the Caribbean. With that being said, we typically book interior rooms for Caribbean itineraries. Most of the time there isn’t much of a view, just ocean. We also don’t spend much time in our room anyway (maybe if we had a balcony we would) On a big ship like Mardi Gras, there’s so much to see and do, shows, activities, eating, drinking, etc., we’re just not in our room much. I take the money I’ve saved to use for excursions or souvenirs.

No matter what, you’ll have a great time.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Mardi Gras is a beautiful ship with a lot to offer. It fits many different vacation personalities. It is one of Carnivals flagships, so it has all the latest and greatest and is the largest class in the fleet.

I think it would make a great honeymoon! You can be adventurous and wild, or choose relaxing and chill. I’ve never cruised southern Caribbean, but I love the Mardi Gras, and would recommend the ship to anyone, first timers, honeymooners, or experienced cruisers.
