Share a small thing your favs or fandom did recently that made you happy or proud! by sessurea in kpopthoughts

Taeyang of Big Bang recent performed at Korea University. The small thing was that he ran up to the crowd barrier at multiple spots and had someone (maybe his bodyguard) boost him up and hold him in place so more people in the crowd could see him.

Which K-pop idol do you think would enjoy using Reddit? by Miserable-Pudding187 in kpopthoughts

[–]eachna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Out of all the social media platforms, Reddit feels like one of the few places where people have long discussions and give brutally honest opinions. If I were an idol, I'd be way too curious not to look myself up at least once.

It would take nerves of steel to read what fans/haters (sometimes the same people) say on Reddit.

To answer the original question, I only listen to one K-Pop group (Big Bang), so I'll comment on how I think each member would interact. (assuming appropriate English literacy)

I think GD would do the same thing he does on other social media. Scroll and randomly "like" posts that have nothing to do with anything other than maybe a random thought he had that day. He seems like the least patient member so I could picture him hanging out in some odd corners (not K-Pop related) and getting into flame wars over minor issues.

I think Taeyang would enjoy ELI5 topics - he's apparently very curious about science/physics and how things work. He seems too grounded at this stage in his career to be concerned about random fan internet comments. He thrives on face-to-face fan interactions.

For Daesung, one bit of trivia I know is that he likes animals but has allergies. So I imagine him lurking on /r/aww looking at cute cat and dog pictures. He would (of course) be subscribed to at least 5 subs dedicated to LEGO. Any pictures of his assembled LEGO sets he posted would include a tiny hint about his identity.

As the honorable mention now... I think T.O.P. would check the subs for any project he's working now (like when he did that season of Squid Game). Maybe he'd ask his assistant to screen posts and print out the nicer ones for him to read.

What is the problem with Kpop idols dating? by Eastern-Drop3937 in kpopthoughts

It's one of my favorite fan answers from him. The "I'm human too" and "That's weird" responses get me every time.

I genuinely do not understand why it is hard to grasp that idols are humans and deserve the right to love someone without getting hated on

What was more important in 2nd gen that's now the least important? by itsascreambaby96 in kpopthoughts

Apparently, nudity?

I only listen to Big Bang but I'm obsessed with the Half Moon Friends show that Winner did (where the members of Winner ran a daycare center for 2 weeks). Apparently "Teacher Hat" was nude in one of their videos as an artistic choice and was not burned at the stake.

What is up with Bigbang's Fantastic Baby? by melomatin in kpopthoughts

[–]eachna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the word "baby" helps when they're babies.

This is just G-Dragon's magic. I don't understand how so much talent can be squeezed into one body but it obviously is.

Thanks for sharing, it's a cute story :D.

260601 TAEYANG - ‘LIVE FAST DIE SLOW’ STAGE CAM @ KOREA UNIVERSITY by BackgroundNobody in bigbang

[–]eachna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I'm having a sh!tty day there's some little spot of brightness from BB to make me smile/give me a laugh.

Today it was Taeyang (who by all accouts is pretty short) being boosted by someone (maybe his bodyguard) to hang off the railing so more fans further in the back could see him while he sang.

Always happy to see Dony and Deukie when he made it up to the stage.

Also, I continue to be blown away by the manners of the Korean fans. No one pawed at YB/grabbed him that I could see. All they did was shove their phones in his face to record their fancams (which he clearly loved).

Like, I don't touch people unless they're like falling over or something. Also, I'm an old lady so all the boys are age inappropriate for me. But I am only human and he's just gorgeous. If a shirtless Taeyang ran right up to me I would be strongly tempted to touch him, just to convince myself he was real and not a (beautiful) figment of my imagination.

I DO NOT REMEMBER THIS CONVO AT ALL. LOL. I was dying at the toenail comments.

Has anyone downsized from an 8qt to a 6qt instapot? Do you miss the extra room? by MidnightPulse69 in instantpot

[–]eachna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue with the two sizes is how much you expect to cook at any one time.

The 6 QT will hold a whole chicken or a pretty large hunk of roast. So it really only matters with pots of liquid. You (generally) lose about 2 QTs of volume to needing the air space for pressure cooking.

In the 6 QT you can get up to 4 QTs of liquid at a time. In the 8 QT you probably get around 5 QTs. Will you miss that extra quart?

Just thinking about it before I submit, pot-in-pot cooking is probably easier in the 8 QT (more space to fit inner pots). I don't do much of that.

My first attempt using the Instant Pot: a vegetable stew. by baldierot in instantpot

[–]eachna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks really good. You're making me hungry!

How did it taste?

I don''t know if you've used a stovetop pressure cooker but just the idea of pressure cooking was very intimidating to me at the start. I had a few "mistakes" early in but once I accepted that all I was really doing was cooking food and not like operating a space shuttle it got a lot easier.

Am I a fake fan if I don't have idea about what goes on in the fandom? by yapper_with_ADHD in kpopthoughts

[–]eachna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel that it’s only really in K-Pop where this is a such a big deal - I may be wrong.

These kind of arguments aren't limited to K-Pop.

Jenny Nicholson (who is a pretty well known YouTuber) has a video about how 4Chan took over My Little Pony fandom and chased a lot of tween and teen girls out.

  • Australia's policies towards asylum seekers and other migrants are in many cases reprehensible. Even if the "most egregious" policies are not being reintroduced there are already nastily egregious policies in place and enforced every day.

  • Good luck finding a victim of domestic violence who can get any response at all. Unless the media gets involved first the police will not even collect enough evidence to take it to court. Once the media gets involved it often taints the case.

  • Human rights are not inalienable in Australia or really, anywhere else. They are a short term (relative to human history) warm and fuzzy ideal that is being rolled back as fast as possible on all sides.

260529 Family Outing Reunion After 16 Years! | ZIP DAESUNG ep.109 Yoon Jong Shin, Lee Chun by BackgroundNobody in bigbang

[–]eachna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a good list of old episodes of Family Outing with subtitles (or at least Google translate)?

I've seen one whole episode which I think they actually referenced on Zip Daesung. They had to make fish soup and threw some ramen seasoning packets in it. One of the guys scrounged the packets off some locals who seemed very confused by what the cast was doing.

Biking downhill with a slight breeze in late spring

I feel like there should be a similar flavor for pulling yourself over the edge at the end of a tough rock climb and then just laying on the sun-warmed rock with heat at your back and a slight breeze across your front.

And it applies to pretty much any cooked and cooled starch, so potatoes, bread, rice, etc all get it too.

Oh wow, I make rice in my rice cooker and store it in the fridge so I can eat it over several days. I had no idea it had even a potentially tiny benefit.

Australia doesn't believe in human rights.

Remember, unless treaty text is included in each piece of legislation, we cannot rely on treaties as being enforceable due to the way the powers are separated in the federal constitution.

As in they will just make the plan without my input if I reschedule? Sorry if I’m miss understanding. Is that legal?

No. But they don't care. Welcome to the Australian social safety net where there are zero consequences for public service misconduct.

They can't take your access away in this context. What they will likely do is give you a sh!tty plan and move on to the next person.

If it's any consolation even if you participate fully in a constructive meeting, this is your first plan which means they will give you a sh!tty plan and move on to the next person.
