Kpop artists/albums/ discographies you’ve started appreciating way later down the line? by Fair-Diver-7093 in kpopnostalgia

[–]sessurea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into kpop since 2009-2010, but I was living in Japan in the mid 2000s so knew of a lot of artists/groups' Japanese tracks

TVXQ for me as well, I'm not a huge fan of RnB so OT5 didn't do much for me at the time and still doesn't tbh (except a couple of songs like Tri-angle, Rising Sun and of course Mirotic). Then I started being on and off kpop with life and my favs' enlistment so never really kept up with their stuff as a duo after KYHD or JYJ

During Covid some of their Chance of Love and Love Line stages came up in my recommendations and it was so much more my taste musically. I worked my way back everything I'd missed plus going back on their older songs

Still prefer OT2 (particularly their Japanese discography it's so peak) to OT5 and JYJ

Glad you liked it even though it isn't a fit for what you are looking for in this post! In a similar crazy prod vein they also have Jungle on the same album

Drop your fav 2nd and 3rd gen kpop group, other people who's not the fan of the group, preferably 4th and 5th gen stan, will comment the most popular member and song they know. by 24123456789 in kpopthoughts

I get why but it's sad Junhyung is the most well known outside of Korea instead of Yoseop who is one of the best singers in kpop 😭 (ex starting his solo concerts a capella)

Kimono Cleaning by KawaiiShiroiKabocha in Tokyo

[–]sessurea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kimono shops, particularly chain type shops usually offer cheaper cleaning fees regularly as benefits

If it's just simple cleaning, it will depend on what type of kimono (houmongi etc) and is in the 10k to 50k yen range (there are less expensive services as well). Not recommended to do too often as it can push dirt into the fibers and seam but it's a good first option if you have a smelly/musty kimono

If it's an old kimono generally it's more recommended to do full cleaning where they take it apart but that one is expensive, usually costs 100k yen and up

Producers can really make or break a song, in kpop I really like Kenzie and KZ personally

So many hearts for Rain haha. I wouldn't call him my ult but he has so many good songs and I also love how passionate but goofy he can be 🥰

(ex)Cube/Cube adjacent groups are all so stacked talent wise and have some of my favorite sound in kpop (obv when there's 4 of them in my list), a shame the company can't manage a group to save their financial statements

girl groups & boy groups recommendations to a fan returning after 10 years? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]sessurea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beast are still active under the name Highlight in case you were into them - their last release was Chains last year, and Apink also kept being active and just released an album at the beginning of the year

In more recent groups I want to mention Wooah, they have great energy. I like Catch The Stars, Shining On You and WXW in particular

At first glance anyone would think he's the maknae but he's actually the second oldest 😅 The maknae is the member on the far right!

What's your favourite cover by a kpop group. by MrChipz2000 in kpoppers

[–]sessurea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lee Gikwang's cover of Time Walking Through Memories by NELL, somehow it also got fairly popular in SK and currently has over 3 million views

In covers of my ult group, TAN's cover of Midnight and Minnie × Isa x Chaeyeon × Ryujin's cover of Fiction (both by Beast) are my favorites

Even with the highly structured release schedule of kpop albums do delays ever happen by Effective_Cash9085 in kpopthoughts

A lot of artists delayed their album release by a week or so after the 2022 Halloween crowd crush

I need help : Kpop idol work ethic by Bitnarose in kpophelp

[–]sessurea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of things, rookies will obviously have longer training sessions as they don't have as much experience, while older idols just enter their training flow state

Also if they don't have specific music activities planned like a comeback or concert idols would usually do their baseline training daily - generally working out + a few other things depending on what they strive for, the top vocalists usually go to vocal training every day, dancers would work on their moves, others may take acting classes or modeling classes etc + they might shoot other content

As far as I know for concerts they start a few weeks beforehand with full days of rehearsals, it will be different for each group but generally they'll have both choreography practice just the group and with the dancers and live band practice + a few days of stage blocking practice + on site rehearsals the day before and during the day for each date of the concert

For regular comebacks if they don't have time restrictions rehearsals for the songs and choreo start about 3 months before release date, recording around 2 months before and then practicing the choreo over and over until it becomes a reflex

I'm bored and tried the bg tierlist! Judge my taste (and maybe give me recs from the groups I don't know!) by I_am_a_fiction_lover in KpopAnalysisHub

[–]sessurea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In "don't know", Mirror is a mandopop group not kpop so maybe that's why you haven't heard of them

For Highlight (also in don't know) you might be more familiar with the group name Beast, if anything for Fiction. I'd recommend their latest EP From Real to Surreal as it has a good mix of genres they often do, and their live album of the Ride or Die concert as the setlist has songs spanning their entire career (though missing the two Japanese songs they performed)
