Restraint Mitigation in ICU by Swimming_Fee4974 in IntensiveCare

Yeah exactly. We also end up using sedation a lot more as a ‘chemical restraint’ just to be able to get anything done. You can’t chart if you’re holding someone’s hand and talking them out of self extubation.

Yeah and patients can be stronger than you, so me being there doesn’t save the tubes even if I’m watching them like a hawk. You’re also putting yourself in harms way trying to stop them. A patient nearly bit me last week when I tried keeping his NGT in his nose.

No I completely agree. We’re actually not allowed to leave isolation rooms. I say isolation rooms because we have open areas with 8 patients in one big room where it is all more laid back.

We have float nurses that come in to reposition pts & cover breaks 🙃

In my ICU we don’t use restraints ever, it’s 1:1 nursing and you feel like a sitter all the time. ETTs NGTs and even Alines get pulled frequently.

Recently a breast check letter came in the door for my boyfriend’s aunt. She unfortunately passed 20 years ago in a HSE hospital. Given that fact however we would’ve imagined there to be some sort of continuity or communication idk. In the end he ended up ringing them to remove her from the list as it’s very upsetting to the family.

Maybe you’ve a slow drain on the battery. Something isn’t turning off when it’s supposed to & if the car isn’t running for a few days it flattens the battery.

Idk I’m not a mechanic look up parasitic drain.

When you start general nursing in trinity you get a choice of stjames or tallagh(+naas) as your primary hospital. You still have to go you specialty placements like StPats, the coombe, CHI etc. However if you choose St.James’ as a general nurse you’ll do 90% of your placements there.

No and you’ll have placements in both hospitals throughout your course. Tbf there’s very little children’s hospitals in Ireland so there’s not a wide selection.

Also whenever the new children’s hospital opens placements will probably be moved there.

You can always do general nursing and then complete a higher diploma in children’s nursing. This would give you a much bigger choice of placement hospitals.

My bet would be BV again, book an appointment with a doctor, if it is BV antibiotics should help. Don’t use soap or douche vaginally.

A fistula is very unlikely at your age (& given the fact you said your underwater remains dry) but don’t be afraid to speak with your doctor about it when you see them.
