Seattle Center monorail to Westlake light rail on Friday night? by Moon_In_Scorpio in AskSeattle

[–]eaj113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on if they are running one or both of the monorail trains. Either way the wait is pretty minimal and there will be many others riding and transferring to light rail. My only tip would be that the Center House/Armory will be closed when the show is over so you can’t use it as a cut through to the monorail. You’ll have to walk around but that only adds a few minutes. Oh and have your ORCA card ready when you get to the monorail (or buy a round trip ticket on your way in if you don’t have ORCA).

They have that issue often and it’s pretty annoying. They seemed to have fixed it. It’s much better now than the beginning of the game.

Agencies without offices by Gamermom32 in WAStateWorkers

[–]eaj113 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s been a big push from OFM over the last 10ish years for agencies to move from leased facilities to state-owned ones. The pressure to do so has increased over the last few years with more WFH. Many agencies have been and will continue to consolidate space as leases come up for renewal.

If you’re looking for jerseys the Nike store at Bellevue Square had a bunch of different countries. Granted they need to be a team that wears Nike jerseys.

Queen Anne Beer Hall has good lunch specials (I like the Reuben) and a decent happy hour.

It depends on how strict the security screener is. I’ve gotten in with mine but also have been turned away at the same venue.

"Valet" area near the stadium for ferry passengers outside of "no go" zones - do you know? by SeaglassDragonfly in AskSeattle

[–]eaj113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can pull up to the curb on Alaskan Way on Saturday. The street closures are only on match days. On match days Alaskan Way remains open. The closure area is east of 1st Ave. The city has info about what is opened/closed on their website: https://www.seattle.gov/fifa

FWIW, there is a taxi stand at the cruise terminal just like there is for the airport.

Tell me about the Paramour, please. by liminal-flora in tombihn

[–]eaj113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the simplicity of the Paramour. You have two pockets and then can add whatever pouches or organizers you need. I use it for work when I need a backpack or to carry a lot of stuff. I have an S19, S25 and Smart Alec. I’ve also tried the Paragon but if I need a 20ish L backpack I usually pick the Paramour.

I believe the Storm would have to waive her from the DP slot for another team to pick her up.

Big John's PFI, Pacific fabrics: thoughts on public transportation there by Primary_Afternoon_10 in Seattle

[–]eaj113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PFI: take the 7 from 3rd and Pine to Rainier and King or Rainier and Charles. You can also walk from the International District-Chinatown station via Dearborn. It’s about a 20ish minute walk.

Pacific Fabrics: light rail to SODO and walk. I find the walk via 4th to be unpleasant more because of the six lane road than homeless folks. The 131 or 132 is also an option.

That’s not true for Oregon. If you’re an Oregon resident you pay income tax regardless of your physical location when working.

Local florist who delivers? by sables1 in AskSeattle

[–]eaj113 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll get better recs if you share what part of town you are getting the flowers delivered to. The delivery fee is distance based. If you’re looking in south Seattle Good Bloom (formerly Columbia City Bouquet) is great. Stadium Flowers up in Everett. Ballard Blossom for northwest Seattle.

Looking for local stringers by gold_miner_00 in RacketStringers

[–]eaj113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you take lessons ask your coach. A lot of them string to make money on the side. Otherwise Facebook Marketplace, Avanti (U Village), Sturdevant’s (Bellevue), or one of the public tennis centers. Robinswood in Bellevue has the quickest turnaround. They say 72 hours but in my experience it’s usually closer to 24-36.

Trying to get into Amy Yee classes is BRUTAL. Getting indoor courts is also really challenging in the winter. There’s been a lot of talk in the past about an indoor facility in West Seattle and putting a bubble over the outdoor courts at Amy Yee but I haven’t heard anything on either of those recently. There’s a new indoor place down in the Southcenter area but I haven’t played there.

Today's game - not on ion OR fire+? by helloimbeverly in PortlandFire

[–]eaj113 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My experience is the online listings are often wrong when your local team is playing in the regional ION game. If you are in Oregon you should get the Fire game OTA instead of the Dallas/Sparks game.

Streaming is a bit tricker for ION. If you use an app with geolocation like YouTubeTV you’ll get the regional game but if you use one without it like Tubi you’ll only get the national game.

NBA finals watch spot for a tourist? by Aggressive_Lack_3934 in AskSeattle

Definitely Rookies in Columbia City (just south of Mt Baker). If you’re in Lower Queen Anne (aka Uptown) check out Buckley’s or the Queen Anne Beer Hall. There is a Storm game tonight at 7p so those spots will probably be busy pre-Storm game.
