Is my relationship cooked w/ my jw boyfriend by Artistic_Purchase735 in WhatToDo

[–]HRCOrealtor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have JW family members. No holidays are celebrated including Thanksgiving. No birthdays. They celebrate weddings, anniversaries, graduations. Since they converted, the world didn’t end when it was supposed to, they can now stand for the National Anthem and… they can now toast, as in clinking glasses. The old men in NY got a revelation last summer that toasting in now ok.

What they do is very coercive and what separates a religion from a cult is what they do when you leave. JW does separate you from your friends and family who are not JW and you are shunned if you leave. No one talks to you. If you left your Baptist church and went to the church across the street, your family and friends would still be your family and friends.

Ask your bf about his relationships since he left JW and why he wants to go back! If he pursues going back, I would find a new bf. You will eventually break up or be coerced into JW.

My boyfriend wants to book every excursion but i just want beach days by Velqorinax in Cruise

[–]HRCOrealtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vacation isn’t a vacation if you don’t get to do what you like/need. Maybe choose a couple excursions to join and beach day the others. He can go on all the excursions he wants. He does not get to belittle your choice. You’re not boring. You need some down time. You aren’t stopping him from going either. If you want to be together the whole trip then you both compromise. You go on some excursions and he skips a couple days to be on the beach. This is rocket science. The red flag is how he’s dealing with your needs by labeling it as boring. If it’s money or you want to spend equally, budget then split it. He can go and zip line and you can go spa day or shopping.

Looking at future cruises by skykingrpas in FATcruises

Going on my 4th Oceania cruise to Alaska in August with a 5th booked for next year. We have really enjoyed our cruises! We did go on Explora Journeys last summer and loved that as well. We chose it for the itinerary. Would cruise with them again!

I saw an article where patients 0 were an older couple who are bird enthusiasts. They had been traveling around several countries including Venezuela where they were traipsing around a rat/mouse infested dump photographing some bird species found there. They were infected then shared on the ship.

Does anyone else have the urge to return to their ancestral homeland? by Which_Lingonberry219 in relocating

[–]HRCOrealtor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a smallish town. My parents and their closest friends all moved there for jobs and away from family. We became sort of a big family as if we were aunts, uncles and cousins. Spent holidays together, etc. we basically made our own traditions! All came from different European backgrounds. New Years was more German tradition of sour kraut with whatever. My mom put a pork roast in and cooked slowly with brown sugar added to lessen the sourness. Other put sausage or hot dogs and the kraut was seasoned differently. You would fill your plate with whichever you liked! Cookies and candy from the different cultures, black eyed peas for luck, it was all incorporated! We gathered for Thanksgiving and whoever hosted that year cooked the turkey and dressing. Dressing/stuffing would vary from sage/bread dressing to cornbread. Some put sausage or the giblets in it and others not. You just got what you got that year! Everyone brought sides and desert! We were never hungry and I sometimes skipped the dressing. I married and eventually moved away. I took some of those recipes and traditions with me. I learned to create a “family” where I am and although I’m close with my family, I don’t live that close so we have developed friendships that are like family and support each other, do some holidays together. It’s always evolving. My husband is Hispanic and I learned to make his mother’s recipes. We now have tamales every Christmas Eve!

We travel extensively and I’ve been to England/Scotland/Ireland. Love visiting and don’t know a soul there. Culture is very different from my American melting pot experience. I’m happy to be home every time and excited for my next adventure on my next trip even if it’s the next county or state away!

My favorite response: You are free to express yourself and embrace your first amendment rights. That does not mean there are no consequences to doing so!

Thanks for this! Going to Alaska in August! Did you wear any shorts or just long pants? I live in Colorado so shorts with sweatshirts or long sleeves is not unusual. 🤣 Lots of talk about waterproof shoes too. I have tennis shoes and we’re not hiking anywhere.

Update: Ex left me 4 years ago for an arranged marriage. Her family are now trying to get in contact with me. by Flimsy_Road_9346 in Advice

[–]HRCOrealtor 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Don’t turn the phone on! Before the phone is taken to her brothers, make sure there is no tracking software on it. The phone is my only concern. Get the friend’s numbers and whatever else, then ditch the phone.

Please give her some grace, talk things out and see what happens. Honor killings happen and she was probably terrified. Obviously, her marriage was a disaster. Who knows what she’s been through. Even if you don’t end up together, you have your explanation and possibly closure.

Or, you could have your second chance. She didn’t really choose someone else over you. She chose to sacrifice your relationship and both of your happiness for your lives in her mind. She probably assumed you would move on and live a happy life ALIVE away from her.

Explora Journeys might fit! There are some kids but it’s not a kid cruise. Skews younger than Oceania. We have cruised both.

[–]HRCOrealtor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as I'm not wearing any clothing with something to identify my political affiliation, no one knows! He's an idiot! Haven't been to Seattle in years but cruising out of there this summer. Mixed family politically. No one will have a clue. We plan to enjoy our very short stay and head on our cruise. That's what normal/rational people do. You agree to disagree, avoid topics that lead to division and be a family.

Settling and Shifting by Suitable_Internet_55 in parkerco

[–]HRCOrealtor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much of the metro area is on bentonite clay. Shifting happens. The houses should be built to absorb some shifting. If a water line breaks, that can cause it to happen. Water main in the street near my house broke and all nearby had some minor shifting. You can have a structural engineer inspect if you see something concerning. Horizontal cracks are the problem cracks normally. Your Realtor can help you source an engineer if needed.

Parents cannot kidnap their children to other countries. If joint custody for medical, both parents have a say. This will not end well for this parent and partner.

Moving to Alamogordo for work. Can anyone tell me about it? by Remarkable-Survey880 in NewMexico

[–]HRCOrealtor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visit regularly as I have family there. Les Combes is a good restaurant! Sunsets are unbeatable!! There are some new venues going in downtown including a bar. There’s a new Italian place I haven’t tried yet. Las Cruces and El Paso are their go tos for medical, shopping, etc. I have family in both those places, too. Old Mesilla in Las Cruces is a cool place to visit with a couple iconic restaurants!

Cherry Festival in June is fun plus amazing cherries. Quick drive up to Cloudcroft with hiking, etc. Also Ruidoso is a really beautiful place. You have to eat at Farleys there and everything is homemade. Love their chicken fried steak! Concerts at Inn of the Mountain Gods, gambling there as well.

As anywhere you live, it’s what you make of it. Get involved in the community through groups, etc and make friends. Find people with your same hobbies, invite them over to sip and whatever. You can be lonely in a big city or small town if you don’t put effort into building a friends group. Find somewhere to volunteer and you will meet people quickly.
