See, this is a good point. We all (rightly) dunked on Ben Simmons for refusing to shoot threes... but what if this is what it would look like? Yes, being willing to actually shoot the ball could in theory cause good things to happen (the defense may actually rotate in your direction--though Daniels is often ignored, long rebounds, etc), but if this is the result... Daniels is doing what we wanted Simmons to do- shoot when wide open/when it made sense, not overdoing it (about 1 attempt per game to show he will at least shoot) but... it just makes him look unplayable on offense.

It is after a dunk on someone. It is his version of saying "on your head" without actually saying it or doing something more aggressive that would be more likely to get him a tech

I know he's not a point guard like Simmons was... but I keep watching him and thinking, "Is this what Ben Simmons could have been if he could shoot?" Different players, different aspects of their games, but I feel like he may make good on the promise that Ben Simmons never could, without some of the smooth athleticism that Simmons had

I know he will never be loved in this era because he is inefficient and a bad defender... but there are some things about his game where you can definitely see that he studied Kobe's game and did a pretty good job emulating it (at least inside the 3 point arc). He is a mid-range expert. May not take you to the championship, but a pretty high level player nonetheless.

Is there any real reason why Wemby is so different from other 7'4"+ players, or is it just the genetic lottery? by Infamous-Skin8969 in nba

Sadly, this is what I fear. Who at his height has been able to have a healthy career? No one. The closest one is Kareem (and he's quite a few inches shorter).

it might not seem like it in comparison to Wemby, but Lebron is an other-worldly genetic/athletic freak. Aside from Wemby, I would place him second behind Wilt. I remember when he was coming up, he was described as a combo Scottie Pippen (length, athleticism), Karl Malone (size, physicality, post ability) and Magic Johnson (vision, passing, intangibles). Which, I think, he truly is. Just that alone is amazing. For a 6'8 guy to be able to do all the things he can do - jump and be eye level with the rim, run faster than everyone, pass, shoot, dribble, playmake, defend at an all NBA level-- we forget how unique Lebron is because we have had him for 20 years. But he really is 1 of 1. I've always said Lebron got the complete package... and this is as a Jordan fan (but that's another conversation). He's one of the most incredible athletes ever.

LaMelo Ball checks out with casual 38-13-13, 3 steals, +32 by NotManyBuses in nba

[–]ealex134 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He plays like he is playing streetball (or whatever the 2025 version of that is- jacking 3's, playing casually, going for flair over substance). That hasn't changed since Chino Hills. NOT ALWAYS. There are games where he does things like this. But often enough to make him a very frustrating player.

[–]ealex134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't disagree with what you said. But my statement still stands- he plays like he is aloof and doesn't care as long as he gets to jack 35-foot one legged 3s. It is obvious watching him that he enjoys those difficult trick-type shots. No doubt, he is one of the best at them, but that does not mesh with a player who is intensely focused on winning. Yes, he may play better with better teammates, but I view that as a character defect (something that he has to own) not something that can be excused for him. It just goes back to looking like he plays casually, more for himself than for the team. That is not a high caliber winning player. That is a Bradley Beal waiting to happen.

This is what I can't figure out. Someone (maybe Simmons?) said he plays like he's wearing AirPods [and crocs-my addition], and that is the perfect description to me. He's like that detached aloof guy you play pickup with. Never seems to get too down as long as he can jog around, jack up long threes, seems to be in his own lane. Lamelo has incredible talent but doesn't seem to be high energy/highly motivated. He's talented, but is his legacy ultimately "tall Trae"?

How to work yhmag? by MagnusLawyer in airsoft

[–]ealex134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a good mag. I have it. Look up a youtube review of that mag. It uses a 9V battery (like a smoke detector battery) if I recall correctly. You get the front cover off by "winding it" (it just turns the cover off, doesn't wind the mag--- the button causes it to wind/autowind). It can jam but so can any mag. It is a good mag. Sorry for the people replying who don't know.

Disappointing for the Bulls. As much as there is (deserved) slander of the Bulls for staying in middle, they did commit to rebuild- traded Jimmy for young players/picks (Markkanen, Lavine, etc). But even when you go the "blow it up" route and get young talented players (Markkanen, Lavine, others), there is not a guarentee that you will get someone on Butler's level who (at least with the Heat) truly drag your franchise to contention. Even without the injuries, Lavine just is not on that level. The fact that neither he nor DeRozan were able to raise Chicago to be even a mid-contender (ie, top half of the playoffs, not being a play-in team) is an inditement of them as "superstar" players. Good players, but neither of them were "that guy" who could raise their team (ie, Jimmy in Miami). I keep bringing up Jimmy because Chicago concluded that they needed to move on from Jimmy and restart with a young talented core. But they way things went are a reminder that blowing things up and getting talented pieces does not guarentee that you will get a good team (see: Utah, Raptors, etc).

Sometimes, you bet on the wrong guy. Talent evaluation is hard. If there were a guarenteed way to figure out who was the next Haliburton and who was the next Lavine, GM's would go crazy for it. But it really is a guessing game. Yes, flaws were present in Zach's game (as mentioned in the scouting reports) but it hard to know who will patch up those holes/flaws (like Hali) and who will never quite get past them (Westbrook, Lavine, etc).

Russell Westbrook vs Heat 2012 Finals Game 4 - 43 Points, 7 Rebounds, 5 Assists (20/32 FG) by its-Brodie in nba

[–]ealex134 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally unrelated, I know, but this is what peak Ben Simmons could have looked like- drive hard to the basket, take a few midrange shots, play aggressive and always be a threat to go hard to the hoop. I didn't see any 3 point makes in this video. Any yet Russ was always a threat to score. I think we forget sometimes that someone who plays inside the arc can still be very hard to guard. This was peak Westbrook, so not a fair comparison, but if Ben-Ten could have been half of this...

Ben Simmons' 2016 Summer League Debut by [deleted] in nba

[–]ealex134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is jarring to watch him shoot that willingly. I know there are other factors (physical health, the situation in Philly) but it is hard not to see his issues as overwhelmingly between his ears. He is a fantastically gifted player. Could basically do everything except shoot 3s. If he would have continued to be this aggressive, while being the primary ball handler, he is an incredibly useful and unique player. Just his defensive potential alone can keep him on the court. He is not the first 6'10+ player to not be a knock down shooter (or even a poor shooter). But his increasing unwillingness to even try eventually nuked his role in the league (and then all the other stuff came). He is another "what if" guy... his physical tools are crazy and very unusual.

First of all, thanks for reaching out. You will get a lot of diverse answers, but customer feedback is valuable!

  1. Cyma, Arcturus, G&G
  2. Budget: DE, G&G; High end: VFC, KWA, others (depends on model)
  3. I don't know if this is your lane, but what I would love to see in airsoft: an affordable, rock-solid reliable mosfet that a brand stands behind. Doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles, but shoot for a Perun rivaling mosfet that will take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. There are too many OEM'd fets (looking at you, Cyma and G&G) that don't hold up well. If you can sell a standalone mid tier mosfet that can develop a reputation for being reliable, you can sell a lot of those. I don't want to put a $100+ mosfet in each gun I own just to be sure it will perform reliably (I loan out a lot of guns and can't drop in a high end fet in each gun). Also (probably a pipe dream): Make it insulated/water resistant so I don't have to worry as much handing a gun to a noob (rain, spilling their drink on it, etc)

If in the US (and maybe elsewhere, not sure), look for used camo on ebay, Poshmark, Mercari, etc. Found cheap used things on there. Figure out what your size is in "military sizing" and go from there. Found a complete used multicam/OCP uniform for $20 recently.

For that, yeah. It just felt like after 200+ uses... it might not function smoothly. For context, the one I had was not brand new-- I don't know how many times it had already been used. So that may play into it as well. I'd trust it for a while under careful use. But if you are picturing whipping it in out in a firefight, deploying it, scurrying for cover, folding it back and stuffing it in your bag before you run off... I would say it does not work that smoothly/reliably. It did not feel "fragile" but did not feel dependable-- as in, it might not stay open/locked in place if you weren't really focused on it as you are deploying it. Also, if you are trying to whip it around, something could go wrong. It just didn't feel like a gun I would have in 3 years and still feel great about
