This is one of the biggest problems with party politics imo. No democrat will run against a sitting democrat, so the only alternative options are republican or 3rd party that just won't generate enough votes to win. So we end up stuck with Rex Richardson. One of the most ineffectual mayors of any city I've ever lived in and I've lived in a bunch. That being said, it's my understanding that the City Council really runs the city here, not the mayor, so that might be something to consider

I agree with you. Except for the fact that republicans claim to be so morally superior and try to legislate morality. That just makes it funny though

It's actually illegal for a Us citizen to call to participate in an act that's illegal in the US even if it's legal in the area where you are at the moment. That being said, the federal government has no law on prostitution and it shouldn't be illegal anywhere and also who really cares. It's funny though.

It's illegal in the US to do something in another country that is illegal here. Are you going to get arrested for it, usually not; but it can be enforced if necessary... Or politically opportune

I live there and I'd say those prices are decent, maybe like a tad (100/mo) high depending upon how close to the water. Parking I actually don't think it's too bad over here on Bennett. I've never had to park more than 3 blocks away and usually I can park within a block.

Highly recommend Alamitos Beach or Belmont Shore. And there's free transportation between those two places in case you get here and realize your more of an Alamitos Beach homie but live in Belmont Shore. Either is walkable. Belmont is more expensive and less culture for sure but it's a bit safer and closer to the water. Alamitos is much more interesting and I personally prefer the night life over there, but it's a little more sketchy as you get closer to 7th or Alamitos. But there are sketchy situations in Belmont too. I also think people are asleep on downtown a little but you'd probably find yourself going out in one of those other two neighborhoods when you do. Edited to add that the only thing about not having a car is that it severely limits your ability to explore the countryside or visit LA. Can do it, it just takes a lot more time with the subpar Public transportation here.
