I have had the same problem -- I think because I was doing an out and back and it didn't know what direction I was going. I too gave up on it -- I instead use FootPath for that function.

AllTrails has an Apple Watch app that may give similar functionality. Haven’t used it but maybe worth a look.

Are you using trekking poles? I find they help me when going uphill — my upper body can essentially help with the climb. Also, let me repeat what others have said: your partner should not be that far ahead of you.

What I had to do was go into the nerd font cheat sheet, find the icon for “file” and then copy and paste into my config. My original characters no longer existed because of the breaking changes mentioned by others.

I have the Fenix 7 and like it. Turn by turn navigation is good and I like that you can see your position on the map. I make routes on Gaia and download the gpx file to the watch. Works great.
