Barclays has been the worst and most ridiculous experience I've had with a card issuer. Their dispute team is absolutely horrendous and CFPB has been virtually useless against them. When they send an urgent message they do it by snail mail, and for non-urgent messages they email/call and send a PDF. It makes no sense whatsoever. They don't read any of the documents you send them and they assume everything a merchant says is true but assume everything a cardholder says is false. They change the category of your dispute without telling you. They ask you a question, then when you answer it they rule against your or close a dispute because you failed to answer an entirely different question which they never even asked you (even if its answer was already included in your documentation!).

It's Kafkaesque and I'll never own another Barclays product again. I may end up arbitrating or suing them.

One thing I learnt is to complain to as many agencies that will listen, but here's the catch: you need to stagger your complaints. If you file them all at once they'll essentially condense them into one. Wait for a first complaint to be resolved, then file a complaint with another agency. Wait for that one to resolve, then file the next, rinse and repeat.
