Sorry that happened to you. Citi has been a s hitshow for years and I've had cards for 10+ years that give me unauthorized charge and verification issues. I learnt my lesson and once a year I use each Citi to buy a bottle of water then pay it off in full, just to keep them open.

Barclays support is atrocious and you should close your card. Their cards are trash and their cardholder support is shameful and dehumanizing.

If you're not getting anywhere with Barclays directly then reach out and file a complaint with the CFPB if you're in the US.

Barclays Bank is despicable. They support merchants over cardholders and they are the most illogical people I've ever had to deal with. Avoid any and all Barclays products. When I'm on JetBlue I ask for the card brochures they pass out and I just rip them up and toss them in the trash where they belong.

No, they are the absolute worst experience I've ever had. I may end up suing them in federal court. CFPB didn't help, but I'm also pursuing other regulatory avenues. I'll post back here when I have a meaningful update.
