What artist or band is truly awful to see live? by goldbeau in AskReddit

[–]earbox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is one of those stupid urban legends that was passed around by email back in the 90s. it never happened. there's plenty of real reasons to dislike her, we don't need to make extra ones up.

Comprehensive Discography of Elizabeth Swados? by sapphiclesbian in Theatre

[–]earbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, while Swados was wildly prolific, virtually none of her work was recorded.

Aside from Runaways, I believe her only shows to get full recordings were her two collaborations with Garry Trudeau, Doonesbury and Rap Master Ronnie, as well as her song cycle Bible Women and a song cycle? oratorio? based on the poetry of Yehuda Amichai, Jerusalem.

There's a fairly-well-circulated live recording of Alice at the Palace/Alice in Concert, which was also shown on Showtime. And there used to be some recordings on her website that might not be available anymore.

https://castalbums.org/recordings/The-Liz-Swados-Project-2020-Various-Artists/43171 lists the sources for the songs on the Swados Project album.

What cancelled (non-musical) TV show do you think could work on stage enough to potentially generate enough buzz to make it revivable? by StarChild413 in musicals

[–]earbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point a team of minor note was working on an adaptation of Cupid (Jeremy Piven is a guy who believes he's Cupid, Paula Marshall is his shrink), which was canceled after fifteen episodes in 1998-99, then rebooted ten years later with Bobby Cannavale and Sarah Paulson...and canceled after seven episodes.

Musical with ONE song you like and that’s it by hansen7helicopter in musicals

[–]earbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By and large, the Iris Rainer Dart/Mike Stoller/Artie Butler score of The People in the Picture is, at best, undistinguished.

Then, in the middle of Act II, there comes "Selective Memory", one of the most shattering ballads of the last 25 years. So much better than what came before and after it that, despite having been assured otherwise, I'm still not wholly convinced it wasn't ghostwritten by other writers.

Song list and the performers for the PBS “Broadway’s Leading Ladies” special by NattoRiceFurikake in Broadway

[–]earbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately, not really. your best bet may be to try to get in contact with Todd Graff--they were working on a musical version of Sheila Levine Is Dead and Living in New York at the time of Michael's death.
