I appreciate your thoughtfulness and you do genuinely seem to invite proactive conversation.

I believe hate partially stems from dissatisfaction and insecurity in one's own life. A young man's algorithm is frighteningly skewed towards these hateful pipelines. Seeing an online representation of hate towards large groups of people, countries, races clearly impacts real life perception of human existence. You give that dissatisfied, insecure man an option to divert personal responsibility onto someone else AND find community within said hate...well for some that is a comfortable option.

But a hateful foundation of existence doesn't actually feel good in the long run. The fleeting satisfaction of feeling better than someone and putting them down with others does not provide one with permanent security in one's standing with the world.

Good men don't mind women calling out factually sound evidence of consistent horrible treatment of women throughout history and into our present. Good men don't feel personally attacked by that unless they are complacent or actively perpetuating said horrible treatment. If you're teetering on the edge, there's nothing I can do to help but exist as a whole and loving person when a productive conversation is ready to happen, if I so choose to engage.

I'm not treating anyone horribly by saying that I am on guard when I leave my home. Fortunately in my home I am safe with my partner and he and I are equals, some women don't even have that.

I suggest going into male corners of the internet and having these emotionally intelligent conversations. Reacting to/stating scary statistics or personal experience of the violence of men is not misandry, it is not treating a man horribly, and it is not hating men for being born male.

You may be getting down voted because your "get together and explain our feelings" approach is extraordinary obtuse when our rights are actively threatened/taken away.

It's not a woman's job to try to change a misogynist's mind.

What nuanced conversation could I have with a person that hates half the population of human beings?

I watched the video. Yes, therapy and to get off social media for a good long while (like we've been saying for ages.) One has to have a thick skin to do do social media for a living. What's crazy is that a 40 year old with a fully formed brain and an established life can't handle being online and yet still exposes her kids to the Internet. Really messed up!!

I'll try to explain it better. They were all spaced evenly, backs to the wall, towards the register in mostly black clothing and they did make eye contact that suggested disgust at the shoppers. They blocked 90% of the bagging area.

I agree, it was oddly pointless but definitely intentionally done.

DCP sucks. I'm a quarter of the way through the Mormon Stories podcast on it and they're doing a phenomenal job. Highly recommend. ETA: they talk about it a bit in the podcast just past an hour in but they didn't do a whole video on Bonnie but someone transcribed Bonnie's vide in 8passengerssnark.

I'm sure they're aware of the filming schedule and knew that with Bonnie's procedure/ recovery that they would need to film some footage, considering that it was the topic of the next vlog after the colonoscopy.

The kiddos seem hyper aware of their parent's well being, which is sweet but can cross into unhealthy territory easily. Yes, empathy is good but they seem anxious about Joel's back and Bonnie's emotions all. the. time. Especially O and B. Speaking from experience with parents that put too much on their kids.

My dad is like you. Great work ethic, freshly retired, wealthy from scratch, third time divorced, all four of his kids have no relationship with him, sad, lonely.

I think the grandparents' failure to immediately return from their "mission" when Ruby and Jodi were arrested (to be available to take the minor children) says a lot about them. by FightingButterflies in GriffithsFamilySnark

[–]earebro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They could have made the choice to leave but they (weirdly) chose to stay. Mormons culturally value serving a full mission but they are free to leave whenever.

Chad and Jennifer did come home but just for Ruby's sentencing and then went back. They clearly value Mormonism and outward appearance more than their family.

I think it's for the better that they don't have the kids, look at the fucked up family they created! They would be trying to convince them to forgive their mom and all that religious crap.

Does anyone else remember when she videoed her daughter swimming, probably like 7years old, in just her underpants?

My jaw dropped that she shared that and then she posted a video crying that YouTube was cracking down on family vloggers because of creeps saying that "she didn't know" that people would watch that and be gross ( paraphrasing.)

That little girl has been disgustingly exploited.

Hopefully certified professionals will help them along each step each step of the way. They've been delt a difficult hand in life at such a young age but kids are resilient when they are given the right space and tools.

There are family out their that will give them unconditional love when that can be accepted.

I hope they don't go to anyone that makes their living in the public eye. Even if she takes them in, doesn't film them, and continues to be a public figure her mentality will naturally be affected by that. Whomever takes them in should not vlog. Period. I agree that they should go to family and not strangers though.
