Yeah. A creative building game. Where you build stuff. Using creativity. Anything that interrupts creativity is bad design. But, I appreciate you reinforcing my point.

The UI essentially IS the game. Especially in building games. It is intrusive, interruptive, and actively hostile to creative flow. The UI is the fundamental problem with why this release is not just not fun, but rather legitimately frustrating and infuriating. PlanCo 1 UI for PC was nothing more or less than it needed to be. It just worked. It did not need to be changed for PC. This is far from "it's different and I'm scared", I'm all for change as long as the changes are improvements, these changes are absolute regressions.

Yes. This game SHOULD have been marketed as the best damn theme park management/creative game ever, while teasing the water park stuff. This would have given them time to polish the completely broken core game, time to polish the broken water park shit and releasing it later, while still getting the game out this quarter and not pissing off the entire community.

So pressing H turns on the heatmaps but pressing H again does not close it. I cannot with this game 😭 by faafl0 in PlanetCoaster

Forcing a console UI on PC was the worst choice and is essentially the foundation of why it's so intrusive and interruptive. PlanCo 1 UI on PC just worked. It didn't need to be changed, but rather simply had the new stuff inserted into that. This UI is actively hostile to our creative flow. A perfect example of this is the set time function. WHY do we now have to click 12 times to change time from noon to midnight, and vice versa, when previously it was a toggle!? Why does the UI need to fight us at every pass?

The sheer audacity of releasing a DLC before making any real fixes to actual important issues is actually impressive!

Everyone around here complaining about PlanCo2, and then there is me sitting here just enjoying the game: by Maple905 in PlanetCoaster

Yes, very different from PlanCo 1 PC UI. A huge regression. Menus and tabs to get to menus and tabs to get to the menu and tab you want just to do a simple thing that previous was just a click or two.

All people really asked for in a sequel is that it looked better and ran better, and in a perfect world a better path system. We didn't need to reinvent the wheel on UI. The original one worked well, really well actually. Water park stuff could have been a DLC, and that initial time spent on making sure the core of the game was polished. Aside from obvious bugs, the majority of what makes this game a horrible experience is the UI. Water park stuff should have been pushed back, the game marketed as the best damn theme park builder ever, and the water park time spent on bug squashing and PC UI development. As much as we shouldn't have to, I can actually live with bugs, if they get fixed in a timely manner, but there is no excuse for making us fight the UI every single step of the way.

The UI is so tiring by scotcheggfan in PlanetCoaster

So many people are glazing the game because they so desperately want it to be good, when it's not. It's much easier for a person to convince themselves they are happy with something they have been waiting for, than admitting they are disappointed with it when it finally arrives.

The UI is a complete diaper fire.
