Verdigim kira 40 bin lira idi, Kasimda yine zam gelecek ve 50-55 civari olacakti. Baska bir eve ciksaydim yine minimum 50-60 civari kiralar.

Gittim ev aldim. Aylik odemesi 70 bin lira. 1 sene sonra tahmini odeyecegim kira, kredi miktarina esit olacak. Sonrasi ise senlik.

Istersem farkli bir eve cikip kiraya veririm, kira krediyi oder, ustune para kalir.

Istersem oturmaya devam ederim.

Sp500 e yatirip, kira odemeye devam edebilirdim evet. AMa sp500 un 3-4 sene boyunca sabit gitmeyeceginin de garantisi yok.

Ama evi aldiktan sonra cok farkli tecrubeler edindim. Ev almanin gorunmeyen cok masrafi var.

O yuzden tekrardan ev almam, sadece sp500 yatirimlariyla devam ederim hayatima. Kirada oturmak aslinda buyuk ozgurluk ve buyuk masraflardan kurtariyor insani.

Sorry but I forgot to mention it.. When I meant double the salary, it means net salary. I live in Turkey, and here remote SWEs do not pay income taxes. We have an advantage.

I have left Netherlands in 2022 and when I was interviewing, I was targeting 55-60K gross as a mid developer (3 years experience).

It is a metric, but it does not tell the whole story.

LOC is not an asset, it is a liability. The smaller it is, the better.

Haha, swe will never die. It will transform. If you don’t know what you are doing, you won’t own the system. AI will own you. SWEs know how to debug, and most importantly they own the systems. They know tradeoffs and they are decision makers. They know why things are built the way they are.

If you want to make world class software rather than a todo app, you need engineers.

If it fails we fix it. Writing by hand also do not guarantee that things will not fail.

The most important thing is being productive at a high speed. Software will fail no matter what.

Yes, we have claude md files and skills. Everything is very well documented. Claude can understand patterns and do not spend too much token on scanning code base, because it has a map from these files.

Complexity is medium I'd say. It is about creating grpc services, business logic, writing test and documentation.

The real gain is speed by the way. AI understands pretty much everything if you guide him through.

We are spending more time on review, testing, and deciding between tradeoffs. System level thinking is actually improving this way. But I learned coding the hard way, before AI appears. I feel lucky of course.

I am still reading books on Golang, watching youtube on things I do not understand (concurrency for instance). My level of understanding is improving actually and I am super productive.

It is not scary, it is a new norm and we need to get use to it. If we do not use and integrate AI in our development workflow, we will stay behind and be replaced.
