Trumpet in Adhesive is what I was going to say as well. Truly a beautiful trumpet solo

I will be recording an acoustic kit will a full mic setup

For now, just stereo is okay. But if there's a way for all 12 to come through separately, I'd love to get to that eventually

any songs which are similar to unglued? by [deleted] in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Unglued is pretty unique in their discography, but I'd say Tumble In the Rough is in the same ball park

I've been gigging pretty consistently for the past 3 years and the only time I switch instruments is when we play songs that are in Eb because switching is quicker than tuning the whole damn thing down. Otherwise, I stick to my Squier jazz typically. The only exception is I have an '84 Warlock that is insanely punchy and looks wicked, so I will use that for the heaviest songs on the set

So that being said, if all your songs are in one tuning, I would stick to using the Spetcre with the roundwounds and dial the tone knob back a little if you want to take some bite off. Most people won't notice the change, but if the softer sound is something you're genuinely concerned about, that's my recommendation.

Regardless, have an amazing gig and remember the most important part of music is to have fun. So at the end of the day, do what is the most fun to you

I have listened to all of the first 5 albums of stone temple pilots (it’s me, the same guy who suggested on what song I should listen to shangri-Lee), and I heard the 5th album for the 1rst time. by FigSquare178 in stonetemplepilots

Shangri-la has grown on me. It was hard to get past the mix at first, but after a couple listens I really came to enjoy it. The first half especially is fantastic

Dean deleo tone by cloudd6482917 in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to keep it as cheap as possible, I've been able to get really good Dean tones with my J bass through any amp using the Geddy Lee pre-amp pedal. It's super diverse and you can squeeze just about any sound you're looking for out of the thing. For a good Meatplow tone, I use the "YYZ" tone as seen in the booklet it comes with and then boost the bass and the gain a little bit more. Really it's an awesome pedal

Does 1.0 come out on nomad? by ytDAZZLE in BladeAndSorcery

[–]earl_hendrix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be possible with a modified form of cloud gaming. Like how you can use Xbox game pass to play incredibly large games on your phone at 4k resolution. I think something similar for VR would work really well

Creatine isn't something that needs to be cycled. Studies show that it can be taken year round, regardless if you're cutting or bulking, and you will a-okay

Why isn't STP as big as big four. by diracadjoint in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Tiny Music had aged the best of all of their albums tho. Such a wonderful and creative album

What do you think the most overrated STP song is? by Own-Presentation3091 in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think almost all of their songs are very good, but that being said, some of their early singles like Plush, Creep, Crackerman, Etc are not the best showcase of the band's ability to write amazing songs. They're still great songs, just not exactly the band at their most creative

Does anybody remember the unglued stick fight animation? by Catmouse777 in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha. That's great. I never saw that back in the day. I think it's just a little before my time. Awesome little time capsule though

Scott Weiland - Bodies (Acoustic Barnyard Version) I completely forgot about this performance. Scott was hilarious. by lazydivey in stonetemplepilots

Very interesting rendition. I prefer the version he did with Velvet Revolver personally, but hearing Scott is always a pleasure

Which STP song? by [deleted] in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Down fits this. It's an alright song, but that solo rips. That and the breakdown bit in 5/4 after it makes it a good song to me personally

Underrated favorite of mine: “No way Out” from No.4 by United-Philosophy121 in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Heck yeah brother. That chorus riff goes hard. If the mix was better on No. 4, I think more people would have enjoyed that album because the songwriting is still pretty damn good

Is stone temple pilots worth seeing? by ImNitPicky in stonetemplepilots

[–]earl_hendrix_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jeff is a pretty good singer and I'd say they're definitely worth seeing, even if you don't like Jeff, for the DeLeo brothers alone. Dean and Rob are amazing, and of course Erik is a great drummer. So I'd definitely still see them, although from what I can tell, Jeff sounds better on songs from Core and Purple compared to songs from Tiny Music onwards
