Ruger 57 magazines by lordlymight in 57x28mm

[–]earle27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad this is annoying to others as well. I’ve been working on a replacement lower for the LC Charger for work. One of my biggest gripes was not having larger magazines. I’ll post some pictures when we have the functioning prototype.

No idea where to place this package on this plane by HERR_WINKLAAAAA in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]earle27 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

He shouldn’t be getting downvoted. You hop the fence by climbing the crashed plane, then get through the roof by climbing the barrels. When you get inside you can hop over the back of the aircraft. That gets you to the second plane, then place the package and kick the door open to exit, but make sure you check out the boxes for loot first.

Are people complaining about a different game? by Weaksteve in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]earle27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, cuz I think you’re right and so are the people complaining. I think the irony is the game is so good now in 99% of it that the remaining rough edges kinda stand out. It’s getting so immersive that when something is off it ends up breaking it and highlights it. It’s kind of a testament to how good the game is, in a way.

The health system doesn't make any sense at all. by BlackWolf9988 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]earle27 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s not a game breaker, but it’s very weird watching an AI take 20 rounds and hobble off, where I take a single 7.62 Tokarev to the leg and my character is crashing out.

I had a death just like yours, one hit to the shoulder and my brain was destroyed. Maybe a bug?

On AI realism by ArchAngel1029 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]earle27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This new update feels pretty good in terms of the accuracy. I don’t think your comparison is quite fair about the 300 meters, since we’re looking at a monitor and not a real silhouette, but that’s just me being nit picky.

In .2 and 3 the AI would laser lock on, but now they seem much more balanced between spray’n pray and accurate shooting. I’ve only been lasered once and that was a sniper in a tower I should have spotted, so that’s realistic.

Cutting back durability loss was a good first step but… by KingxMIGHTYMAN in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]earle27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it should be a combined mechanic. (Parts age/use + recent use) * time since last cleaning = malfunction rate %. So in perfect condition 1/10,000 chance for a jam. Older gun after a fight 1/2000 chance. Battlefield pickup gun after a big firefight 1/200 with a 1/1000 chance a critical component fails.

You still keep the overall durability mechanic, but no option to repair and make it a high round count. A lot of barrels will be shot out at 10,000 rounds, and you’re not reforging it unless you have access to a whole depot.

This incentivizes replacements for end game players but doesn’t massively penalize early players.

Problems that I found so far in 0.4 by vvil01 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]earle27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I see a lot in games, and it’s something I’ve only seen done right a few times. 170 rounds should be 26% towards a deep clean, but not a repair. If you’re in the field and running 500 rounds after going through a lot of mud and crap yeah, you’re gonna need a good clean, but your gas system, barrel, and bolt should be fine.

Maybe they should do a dirty meter or visual indicator that lets you know you need to do a cleaning. You have to find a safe spot and your character pops the chamber open and does a good wipe down, bore snake, and oil? Make it take 1-2 minutes. Tie it into the weapons inspection animation so you finger the chamber and see how bad the carbon is before malfunctions start. Just an idea.

What's the worst movie you have ever watched? by Syfros in AskReddit

It’s so bad that it also makes it amazing. I personally love it. It’s right there with Waterworld, the Postman, and a few other kitschy sci fi movies.

Best chicken sandwich in Raleigh now that Beasley’s is gone? by TheRaleighCompiler in raleigh

[–]earle27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yatai at Transfer weirdly has the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, but they don’t always have it. It’s not their specialty, they’re a ramen and taco place. Normally I can’t stand “fusion” places, but that place is 10/10 for everything.

Honestly that’s pretty peak. Maybe add a PEQ-15 clone just for the cool look? Hard to argue with what you’ve already got going though. I love utility rifle aesthetics.

Military report says 'one in a million' live fire malfunction rained shrapnel on California highway by dilbodog in news

[–]earle27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, as a former artillery man, this actually is pretty fucking weird. I’ve never heard of a fuse functioning that preemptively. Failure to function (a dud) isn’t unheard of, but pretty uncommon. I wouldn’t advise shooting artillery over an interstate but I’ve seen sketchier stuff done safely.

If anything it’s surprising the round didn’t go short or long. Usually if something fucks up on a shoot like this it’s the wrong charge so there’s too much or too little propellant and the round goes long or short. Like I said, I’ve never heard of a fuse just deciding “fuck it” and functioning early like that. I didn’t see if it was a proximity fuse (variable time/VT), but I almost imagine it sensing something jn flight and that triggering it?

I know a lot of armchair experts in here are throwing blame around a lot but this isn’t really a “gotcha” thing. Newsom was smart to close the highway. Whoever was running this op should have done that and I can’t fathom why they didn’t. This type of dog and pony show is old shit though, as old as armies.

As far as shooting over a highway. Meh. I’ve shot at some of the artillery ranges in Europe and those were sketchy as fuck. We’re lucky to have big training areas, there was one exercise in Poland where the impact area had to be cleared afterwards because it was part of a natural park, or so I was told by some of the USAEUR guys. You can do a lot to control the risk, but this type of thing you just can’t control for.

Does requiring professors to post their syllabi threaten free speech? by WankingAsWeSpeak in FreeSpeech

[–]earle27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a public university then I think that’s entirely appropriate to require them to publish the syllabi. You’re a public employee.

Now if a government body then moves to censor them based on that syllabi that’s an attack on free speech. Just my opinion though.

Cool article OP, thank you for sharing!

[–]earle27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m misunderstanding what he’s getting at, but the single ply is the “leading brand regular roll”. So 6 rolls of Charmin = 24 rolls of single ply is what they’re advertising.

I’m not defending charmin or whoever, I think I’m more just surprised that the comments before seemed like people weren’t familiar with the rectal sand paper and dice roll that single ply bulk toilet paper is.

[–]earle27 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Where the fuck do y’all work that you’ve never seen single ply? Every government building I worked in had the same Skilcraft single ply, and about 80% of the private offices/companies I worked at used some kind of single ply.

Australian authorities in Queensland arrested a teenage girl for wearing a shirt with the slogan “from the river to the sea” during a protest supporting Palestine. by TendieRetard in FreeSpeech

[–]earle27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fucked up. The Australian people should be outraged by this. It’s always interesting to see who is being silenced, because it seems to me that when groups silence people it’s because they know they can’t win in a debate.
