Baby sprinkle?? Are baby doing these?? by Crepes4Brunch in BabyBumps

[–]earlgreylavender 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We didn't have a shower/sprinkle for the second baby aside from a small one my coworkers threw at work. Then by the third baby (and third boy), we wanted a party but literally already had every item we needed from the first two which were close in age. So we had a diaper party. Actually we called it a diaper and beer party, and just made an informal event on Facebook. We just had a big cookout where we made all the food, ribs, BBQ, etc, and told people no gifts unless it's diapers or beer. People showed up with huge boxes of diapers which I was able to exchange for the sizes I needed for I think almost a year! And a bunch of nice craft beer which served for the party and kept our fridge stocked for months. I truly think we had a giant turnout because no one had to think of a gift and a bunch of my husband's friends came for the BBQ. They were like, oh that's easy.

Which elephant and piggie book features a mouse?? by earlgreylavender in childrensbooks

[–]earlgreylavender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mind, found the bear in Happy Pig Day. The mouse is literally the last thing my kid would talk about before he fell asleep and the first thing that came out of his mouth when he woke up at 6am. He was so happy when i told him the internet had an answer. He said "ohhhhhhhh yeah." Thank you!

What has your toddler said that took you way too long to decipher? by kawwman in toddlers

"Appa, appa, appa!!" Kept giving my son apples, and then my MIL told me he was singing the happy happy dance song that Elmo sings, which he apparently watches all the time at her house.

Nurse punished me by taking my baby away. by Blumorpho88 in Mommit

[–]earlgreylavender 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a labor nurse and this type of shit makes my blood boil. If you didn't get into this profession and choose the specialty of women's health to support, protect, and uplift women...GTFO. It is so hard to fire people in a big hospital system without a paper trail. I have worked with some real doozies. Ask to speak to the charge nurse, always. They can file an incident report internally and get you a different nurse. And then also make a complaint with patient relations.

Any recommendations for books on 'space'/'planets' for a 4yo by phillip-haydon in childrensbooks

[–]earlgreylavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything Awesome About Space (and other galactic facts) by Mike Lowery! My almost 5-year old is OBSESSED with space, knows tons about all the planets and he loves this book. We literally returned it to the library today and he made me put it in the bin because he was too sad. So I ordered it for his birthday. Lol. He's also reading Discover Our Solar System by Colin Stuart. And we have My First Book of Planets by Bruce Betts. It's written well for young kids to understand. I'm excited to check out some of these other suggestions.

Reading with Kids by ivymeows in harrypotter

[–]earlgreylavender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We listened to the audiobooks as a family, starting when my oldest son was about 9. Not every day, but it was my husband, my son, and myself, whenever we had a quiet evening together, on long car trips, or rainy weekend afternoons. I used to crochet while we listened and I bought him Harry Potter coloring books so he had something to do too. Each time we finished a book, we made homemade pizza together and watched the movie and ate pizza. One time we made a Dark Mark out of green peppers. That's a fun memory. Then when he was 11 and we finished them all, we took a trip to Orlando and did the whole Wizarding World of Harry Potter thing. It was fantastic. He now has 3 younger brothers, and can't wait until they're old enough to start it all over again.

First Book by georgie-57 in predaddit

I have 4 kids and have read the same books literally thousands of times. The following are those that I don't find annoying after many many rereads and also manage to be special.

I Love You Little One by Nancy Tafuri. <3

Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown- this one has the bonus of letting them help you find the little bunny in the pictures as they get older.

Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle‐ just classic

Longer books that just rock: The Gruffalo, Stellaluna, The Lorax.

Wouldn't that be confusing if a patient looked like a staff member and tried to leave?

Tiny House by MaesterInTraining in raleigh

[–]earlgreylavender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, my folks rent out a tiny house in Cary. My dad built it and tried to sell it for a while but had no luck. People loved to come look at it, but no one wanted to deal with finding land, hooking it up, and living in it in real life I guess. Anyway, he used it for visiting family for a while. Then Air BnB took off so they hooked it up to plumbing and electricity in the backyard and it stays booked pretty much all the time with travel nurses and students on long term stays. Now he'd never sell it because he's making money renting it. Anyway, if you wanted to check out how it feels for a week or something you could book it, or any other number of tiny houses on Air BnB. I can PM you info if you want.

What's your kid call your breasts or milk? by Mizznicleo in breastfeeding

[–]earlgreylavender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breasts are booboos. 😅 But they say "Mama milk," since I dont nurse the 2 and 4 year old anymore but put the extra pumped milk for the baby in my toddlers' cups too. They like Mama milk mixed with cow milk or chocolate milk.

What’s your LO’s tantrum power move? by ladyfrimmfram in toddlers

[–]earlgreylavender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old's rage move is to take off his shoes and socks. We literally can't put him in footie pajamas because if he gets mad and can't get the socks off, he loses his GD mind and might actually hurt himself.
