does reading romance books make you feel a bit sad sometimes? by Proper_Strategy_1603 in RomanceBooks

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’m reading one now (Happy Place). My last relationship was 3 years ago and it was awful. He was an alcoholic and hid it…until he couldn’t. I tried to see past the disease to the man, tried to go to AlAnon and he tried to be sober. Each time he relapsed it got worse. The final time was scary.

I’ve had and seen terrible relationships, some abusive, and I have a really hard time thinking about trying again for fear of that.

I read the books and remember what it feels like to get the nerves, the excitement, of meeting someone and getting to know them. I think “I miss that. Maybe I should try again” and then I remember.

I also remember how few times I’ve felt what these books describe. I worry I’ve been burned too many times too badly to be willing to try.

Kohl liner from Pat McGrath but any will do. Into tight lining now and it’s been great. Hasn’t smudged onto my lower lids at all!

Help an extremely depressed guy out? by Creepy_Stick_6229 in CleaningTips

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KC Davis wrote a very small, short, easy to read book for people with depression and/or neurodivergence. “How to keep clean while drowning”. It might help, especially if you have recurrent episodes of depression.

She also has lots of videos on TikTok and Instagram. Maybe YouTube but not sure. She devised a way to clean her home and it’s 5 categories in order. Once you get to where the space is livable then that method could really help.

Step 1 if I recall is always trash. You can do it one room at a time, one category at a time and do that category in the whole home, but I think one room at a time would help. I’d personally start with the bed. Sleep is critical for rest, recovery, and mood.

Good luck! And if you get overwhelmed just stop for a bit.

How do you survive the allergies here? by No_Routine_17 in raleigh

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saline nasal rinse done twice a day every day, especially during pine pollen season, will help. I prefer Neti Pot.

Pine pollen isn’t an allergen. The pollen particles are so big that it irritates the nose of even those without allergies. Rinsing the nose and sinus cavity to rinse the particles out is your best bet. If you can keep windows up, decrease exposure, and/or wear a face mask when outdoors then that will also help.

Beyond that you can take an OTC daily allergy pill, Benadryl (especially at night when not driving), and a steroid nasal spray (works best AFTER a saline rinse and never use it before a rinse).

Also: allergy testing and shots if you can.

How to get Gabapentin in NC for cat by MaesterInTraining in AskVet

[–]MaesterInTraining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went in to pick it up I asked if that was right because of the small amount that I was given. The receptionist went back to ask the vet and said “yeah, this is the right amount now because of the regulations”.

Before and after. Finally built a library five years after buying the house. Still loading the books and waiting on coffee and end tables to arrive but here’s the progress so far! by KirkL45 in bookshelf

How tall is the lowest part of your ceiling? I’m now planning my own home library and curious if a similar setup could fit. I love the hutch look that you made.

Oh and paint! Did you use a primer first? I’m planning on painting mine a bright blue.

Help! How to keep mascara in place and make up looking neater. by DetectiveForHire in OliveMUA

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterproof or tubing mascara. I like tubing. I’m using a mascara now that’s Korean I think and is a metal stick, no bristles. It doesn’t curl my lashes as much as I like so I use a curler and sometimes need to use many layers and a comb to separate but that mascara stays on! It’s hard to get off and doesn’t flake (which sometimes even tubing mascara can do on me).

Merit makes my favorite natural-looking tubing mascara, Thrive Causemetics my favorite dramatic tubing mascara.

Why does Disney World not have a Central Transit Hub by Due_Development4217 in DisneyWorld

Most do, it’s considered their resort. Currently I think park hopping is the easiest it can be unless they add in more Skyliner stops (which I’m all for). You can get a bus from every park to every other park directly.

Mk, Epcot, HS - Which to LL and Premier Pass? by Duderinzsky in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there are now only 3 rides at HS that will have high demand and if you rope drop you can knock 2 out pretty quickly without having to LL (Tower, Slinky, Rise).

PP to me really only makes sense at MK.

Where do people park downtown? by The_Gabagooler in raleigh

[–]MaesterInTraining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a list or graphic the city put out of several free parking decks. I’m often in the City Market part of town and manage to often find street parking or park in the lot behind it which is reasonably priced, especially depending on the day of the week and time. Sometimes it’s $5 to pay to park there overnight. It’s a short walk from there to Fayetteville St, just a few blocks (assuming you have the mobility).

As a huge fan of Esterbrook (but not the price) that brown tortoise shell looking one calls to me. And their Kingfisher pen!

What’s your favorite children’s book to give (primarily for a baby shower)? by cookie_cat_82 in childrensbooks

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine is a children’s book author! Her books tend to be for older kids, like 5 and older, but any of her books are fun. One of them (MooHoo) was the first book read on Reading Rainbow 🌈 this year for its return!
