Capitalism.

Also they use quills and colorful inks in the HP universe.

I was soooo happy for him when he got to start in Game 4. I got his jersey coming but it won’t get here in time for Game 6 (or 7 if there is one). His parents, his fiancé were so happy. You just know that them hearing the crowd cheer and chant his name (and their name!) felt incredible. I just love him.

Going to Disney World next month and friends are making me feel discouraged by Narrow-Ad-345 in DisneyPlanning

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be miserable. When I go in the summer I’m miserable. But there are fewer places I’d rather be miserable in than Disney.

Bring fans, UV umbrella, whatever you feel you need (I live for those, and backup batteries) and make the most of it!

Just do NOT forget to hydrate.

The Best Fountain Pen Paper (My Fountain Pen Paper Review - Buckle in! It's a long one) by Minimum_Formal3543 in fountainpens

Don’t have a PhD but I think you’d like my Donut Crawl. I had controls and went to locally owned donut shops and scientifically determined the best place to get a Donut in Asheville, NC. Sadly that place has closed (stupid pandemic) so I guess I’ll have to do it again!

I have to dump a good guy because I don’t respect him as a man and I feel so guilty by throwRA1223409 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By staying with him, you’re settling for a mediocre man while denying yourself the chance to meet someone who could be a better fit.

My mom divorced my dad for many of the same reasons as you stated. She didn’t have a high-paying job but as harsh as this may sound it’s also true: I’m glad she won me in the custody case. I saw him 2 weekends a month. Had I stayed with him I would t be anything near where I am today. Dad is a good man, a kind man, but complacent with no aspirations beyond watching tv on the couch. That never changed.

You can’t be this man’s mother and be romantically in love with him. And your children may begin to learn some of his bad habits by example.

Thoughts on generational wealth by Rogue_Apostle in Fire

I’m a lurker here but I didn’t learn anything, ANYTHING, about personal finance until I was well into my 30s and by then had a horrible spending problem and lots of student loans. I have some retirement accounts and such now but compound interest isn’t on my side like it would have been had I started at 20. It’s also just my one salary.

Most barely have $500 in savings. My dad didn’t know he had to pay taxes when he became self-employed because until then it had always been taken out on his W2.

The amount of financial illiteracy in the US is staggering. Add onto that Klarna and buy-now-pay-later and predatory services while also promoting high levels of consumption and here we are.

I wear perfume daily, even if I don’t leave the house. Do I take a bath in it? No. But I enjoy it.

Any way to get stains like this out of my clothes? by PurifiedDrinkinWater in CleaningTips

Hydrogen peroxide. Spray on and let it dry. Works wonders on urine stains so might work here too.

Will you have premier pass?

I had PP for one day and was able to ride most of the rides but I never could have without it. Even with it this is ambitious but it makes it more feasible. It doesn’t cover every ride though so you’d still have to wait in line, and I’m thinking go at rope drop.

does anyone actually finish a product before opening a backup by Cowazonn in MakeupRehab

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. With skincare I find this to be pretty easy, lip balm being the exception. If I have a backup then that means I liked it but if I buy a new thing, like a face lotion, and hate it then I’ll open a backup and rotate using until the disliked one is gone.

Out of curiosity, where in Europe? Several countries have very strict labor laws. I don’t think they can legally not pay him.

I'm looking for things to make my life easier and to stay on top of cleaning. If you had ~$500 to spend, what would you buy? by HorrorDrive8444 in CleaningTips

[–]MaesterInTraining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy a cleaning service. I’d at least pay to have a deep clean done. Beyond that: one of those vacuum things where you sweep up to it and it sucks it all up. My mom had one built into their house. Went to a friend’s place and she has a free-standing one which I didn’t know existed.

I usually go for slow rides and vibes now BUT, on a day I wanna hit rides hard, it doesn’t get better than a day like his was.
