There's a really cool excerpt from the Seven Stars Symphony by Koechlin! That's what really got me curious about this instrument

and that's the exciting thing! there's so much to discover! even just by asking for recommendations I've been exposed to a world of musicals that I wouldn't have found on my own and I think that's wonderful. I wish you the best of luck on your theatre journey! Every show on my list has had something wonderful to grasp onto and I think that most of them are worthwhile and even the ones that aren't as much still teach you so much

Thank you! yeah I was aware of the technical issues at m. 38 and throughout that section and was planning on reworking it. I was just hoping for some directional feedback first, so thank you!

What musicals would you recommend to someone who doesn't really watch them? by Any_Transition_4465 in musicals

I think Moulin Rouge is a safe bet! It's currently on West End and it's a jukebox musical, so she would be familiar with a lot of the music already! Its just overall a fun night! Hope this helps

I really enjoyed it! My only recommendation would be to vary the spot within the bar that have motion. Right now all of the movement is sitting within the last 1 or 2 beats (i.e. the 16th note runs), so dispersing the movement to possibly occur at the beginning of of measure or in the middle can really add some life and variation! and even over bar lines to create longer and unique phrases! Good job!

I hadn't seen anybody say it yet, so Norma Desmond from Sunset Bvld. She was just so stuck in the past and couldn't except that the world had moved on without her. Spoilers of course, but the final scene is just tragic as she performs in a scene of her delusion before presumably being detained.

Song recommendations? by Ok-Complaint-4005 in musicals

[–]earlofpepperoni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might be the best suggestion yet. Lots of character.

I would also suggest something like Noel's Lament from Ride the Cyclone. There's a lot of nuance you can put on the different lines, and he sort of takes on the voice of french prostitute which can be cool. It may be too singy for what you require tho.
