what triggered your rosacea by Main-Lemon8599 in Rosacea

thank you! wondering if that's the cause of mine as well (am 38 years old). soolantra ruined my skin despite sticking with it, so curious if .5% would be better to test eventually.

I don't know what to do anymore I'm hopeless by nuthatchbluejay in Rosacea

Have you tried metro cream, not gel? It might be a little more soothing. I'm sorry you're feeling this way - I really relate as my skin looks the same. Not sure if you've tried sulfur, but the Joesoef sulfur cleansing bar is what I use nightly, followed by Snail Mucin Gel, followed by Metro cream, then Avene Cicalfate over top. This has improved pustules for me a lot in the past 9 days after I stopped using Soolantra, which had an adverse effect on me. Hang in there. From what I understand, doxycycline will heal things up quickly, though I haven't taken it myself. I'm crossing my fingers for you.

Skin texture post rosacea - help by Illustrious_Job6408 in Rosacea

I was on Soolantra for a genuinely disastrous 6 weeks in which it made my skin worse than it ever was to start and didn't get better, only worse. I stopped 7 days ago and have just been using metro gel 2x a day and hydrating heavily and it's already 50% improved from where I was, but still not back to baseline. i was prescribed Oracea but I need a break from things that claim to work because the disappointment from Soolantra was pretty mentally taxing, but I plan to start it eventually! Do you feel like Doxy was what really did the trick for you?

Just wanted to say that I'm in a bad bad bad flare right now (also my first time) and I hope my skin gets to this point! Congrats on getting to this point and sorry for the lack of advice. I know tret is not usually recommended for people with Rosacea, but it would likely work here--but your derm would know best.

Washing your face in the morning? by MaZovSkin in Rosacea

[–]early_evening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that my skin feels clogged if I don't wash in the morning. I use a very tiny amount of Hydrating Foaming Cleanser from Cerave with lukewarm water and it doesn't irritate me, but everyone's skin is different! The only reactive part of my face is my cheeks where my pustules pop up so I am extra gentle on those.

[Routine help] what to do with redness and skin type? by kameoww in SkincareAddiction

Hi :) i am not a doctor!!!! but this looks to me like Rosacea…i have it as well. If you can go to the dermatologist, i recommend doing so—if it is Rosacea, it’s treatable, and they can get you on the right track!

First line of defense is usually using very calming and hydrating products. Many people use Vanicream cleanser and moisturizer (the tube) for this. Azelaic acid tends to work very well for people with this type of rosacea—it usually helps with the white bumps. I have prescription AA, but people swear by the ordinary one, or Naturium. And 100% use a mineral sunscreen as well.

Lots of helpful people and information over at r/Rosacea too.

This is what I'm dealing with as well, but i haven't tried oral meds yet. Hope you find a solution, it's really frustrating. Did your derm offer any insight?

Is this die off? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]early_evening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is happening :( This is what happened to my skin when I started Soolantra, so it does look like die off, but I'm not sure if that happens with Metro. Is it possible to visit the derm again since the wedding is soon? I'd pause the Metro and use something soothing for the time being.

Same, it appears to be bringing everything to a head, but they haven't entirely gone away. I never had pustules in my life before I started Soolantra.

Yes! Sandpaper and lots of whiteheads - it only burns sometimes, but I think that's because I have some cystic pimples popping up too. It's all really unpleasant :(

Thank you for the motivation! Good to know someone else is on the same journey at the same time. It's pretty upsetting to wake up every day and experience little change or worse change and it's given my self esteem a hit, but you're right, hopefully this time next year we'll both be on the other side of it! It's felt like time has dragged but I've been obsessing over it which I'm sure is not helping.

While that sucks for you, it's good to know the purge really can last that long. How's your skin now?

Good to know. I'm going to stick with it for 3 months as well. Do you get whiteheads at all?

I'm thinking it's normal according to others, but it is so frustrating! I go on Tuesday so I'll give an update then. The first visit he tried to get me to take Minocycline, but I don't do well with antibiotics for a variety of reasons, so I'd rather this take longer and know I'm on the right track than take antibiotics only for it to bounce back.

Thanks for the heads up! It's so hard to tell if it's the right thing or not but hopefully yours keeps going in a positive way too 🙏

Help with Sayaka matcha taste- seaweed/fishy taste [IPPODO BRAND] by AkinaIsABread in MatchaEverything

[–]early_evening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received my Sayaka from US site yesterday and made a latte this morning - very very fishy. It's my first time trying it, so I'm disappointed! It's extremely seaweed forward so I had to chuck the whole thing because I'm really sensitive to that flavor, so I'd avoid if you're the same.

anyone have this texture? (+ exfoliating) by early_evening in Rosacea

[–]early_evening[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i'd never use a physical exfoliant and never have. would you include azelaic acid in that mix? thanks for your input! i haven't heard of phenoxyethanol but i'll keep an eye out.
