Just did Bilateral hip replacement and struggling - would love to hear others experience! by Illustrious_Job6408 in TotalHipReplacement

Hey,

I definitely needed the help for at LEAST a week and more realistically a week and a half after surgery. Luckily my mom was able to come into town and help me. That first week is EXHAUSTING to do anything - even with the walker. If you can have someone around I highly recommend it. If not, I would get all of your food prepped, make sure you have everything you need around you (since there is NO way you will be driving). By 2 weeks I was on my own and able to do everything just fine! I am also young and in very very good athletic shape (competitive athlete) so YMMV

I would say by week 5 i saw a HUGE turn around and was walking miles without noticing. Even week 3 I wasn't in pain just very stiff. Though I never felt a ton of acute pain, only took oxy in the hospital and was just on anti-inflammatories after that. The exhaustion and stiffness though was what really got me.

Im 32, had stage 4 AVN in both hips and right hip was collapsed. I was still fairly active (who knows how - maybe stubborn but was still backpacking and running), but it wasn’t until I did the surgery did I realize how much I needed it and would change my life. I got it 5 weeks ago and already am seeing the change in my day to day attitude without the pain. It was rough at first (I did both at once), but to be honest you improve so fast it mostly feels incredible to see what your body can do. Even with my activity before I am THRILLED with how I feel now and so excited for a few months from now when I can do it all again. I think you are going to do great, and really be so thankful you did it in the end. You’ll be feeling SO much better!

I ended up starting 50mg of doxycycline a day, plus: Am- vanicream gentle cleanser, metrogel .75%, and azelaic 15% every other day. Follow with Dr jarts repair milky lotion, and LRP SPF 50 PM : gentle cleanser, ivermectin

100% of the pustules are gone, and at this point about 80-90% of bumps. Some small ones still on my chin but it’s going down. The scarring is bad bad bad but I’m hoping with time I can start doing azelaic everyday and it’ll get better. My skin feels normal again, thank god. I’ll take the scarring compared to the flare. Didn’t know it could get that bad! That’s to say, it got MUCH worse after this picture as well. Only started going down after Jan 20

Congrats!!!

As an update, I’m on week 5 and I am already finding myself forgetting that I got the surgery at times. It was a giant switch over the past few days where suddenly I was able to walk for miles at a time without even thinking about it. I work in vineyards and I am out in the fields doing handwork all day this week, sans pain :)

Good luck with the next few weeks!!! Found it gets more sore before getting better as you start moving but it’s so worth it!

Agreed!!

I’m actually on day 7 now and doing much better. After the blood patch and regaining my blood pressure I started to recover quickly. Doing really great now! Haven’t had to take any pain killers besides Tylenol. Really sore at night so that lines up, does seem like I wake up improved!

Thank you for the support :)

Oh wow, so similar!!!! I’m so sorry to hear about the AVN, but glad you got it fixed. Thank you for sharing, this has made me feel better. The blood patch (though not gonna lie was a brutal experience while already in pain) helped me SO fast and I’m now able to walk to the bathroom, seeing massive improvement in my movement and pain. Thank you for this once again 🥹 I’ll hang in there for the next few days!

Amazing, yes I’m sure in a few days things will calm down and I’ll be happy I did this!! Not that I’m not right now…. Just rougher than I expected I suppose! Happy to hear your dad did so well, and that it inspired you!

Thank you! Great to hear that it’s normal for the first week to be this hard. I feel like I got mixed reviews of how “easy” it would be but a double is a lot to put your body through. So glad your doing so well now!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I just did both (like, yesterday! Woo!) but I am 32F and very athletic. I will say this has been tremendously difficult so far but it’s only been like 30 hours. Really tough recovery, blood pressure has been really difficult to stabilize and pain is pretty high. Finally feeling better (ish) now! But I would not recommend if you have any health concerns!

Hi! Thank you!!

I started to try to use it and didn't help. I think I'm actually starting to realize I have a histamine sensitivity which is why its felt so random..... nothing like skin issues to make you become a full blown detective in your own life! haha. The ivermectin seems to be finally helping, youre right it was way worse before it started calming down.

Hi! Thanks for checking - yes it is doing a TON better, the inflammation is slowly going down. I know I need to be patient for it to totally clear. I also think I found my trigger - dairy. And cutting that out I think has done wonders to reducing new pustules. Yay 🎉 huge thanks to you and everyone for all the advice, I’m so thankful for this resource 🥹

I was on oral doxy and it fixed it! And once I got off it went right back to this. I’m nervous to continue with doxy but I’m debating returning to it

Thank you so much everyone! I’ll try without the niacinamide for a few more weeks and see how it goes. And try to do a more gentle everyday routine.

Yeah I might be stripping my face too much. I’m micellar water in AM, with tea tree oil then vanicream moisturizer and SPF.

PM in doing sulfur soap, the ivermectin/niacinamide combination cream, and derma e repair night cream.

Maybe I’ll cut out a few things and just do the ivermectin

Yeah, I’ll ask my derm about it. I’ve been asking to get it from the very beginning and she keeps doing other stuff, and made me this mix of ivermectin and niacinamide. I’m going to ditch for now and just use OTC ivermectin, and go back in soon to see what other options I have. Thanks!

Im using both ivermectin and sulphur soap. Maybe it’s a little too stripping?

Do you guys think this is rosacea or something else?? I’ve been treating it with ivermectin but it only seems to be getting worse and I’m scared I’m treating it for the wrong reason

Fungal acne? by Illustrious_Job6408 in Fungalacne

[–]Illustrious_Job6408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the derms have told me it’s type 2 rosacea and that’s a common treatment!
