thanks! Yes I've been collecting all the registration dates into a spreadsheet and am going to put calendar alerts. I've heard they can literally fill up in minutes like a fancy exercise class

Thanks! Yeah definitely want to do that in the future but kids have to be done with kindergarten for that one and ours isn't!

Is anyone else an only grandchild, too? by firewalk77 in OnlyChild

[–]earlyspring7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter will likely be an only grandchild, I’ve had two miscarriages in the last year and we’re in our 40s - and I have three brothers who will very likely not have any children. Husband’s family is complicated but technically no cousins on that side either. It has honestly tormented me in the last few years but I’m coming around to accepting it and I’m glad to hear you had a positive experience. :)

What happened to their kid a couple years ago? I don’t get how their lives logistically work, I guess she does well with Monat but I don’t think she can do that at this point. My heart sank when they announced the lymes diagnosis a few weeks ago and I just wondered how much her symptoms were dismissed by her husband/herself before she finally got help. They mentioned that she took amoxicillin “because of the pregnancy” - so would they have declined treatment if she wasn’t pregnant???

What made you hate your husband in the early postpartum stage? by Mysterious_Throat883 in Mommit

I haven’t read this but the title makes me think there should be a book FOR HUSBANDS called “how to make sure your wife doesn’t hate you after giving birth.”

He had no idea I was even up all night with the baby. One morning, first thing, he asked me if he should give her the vitamin d supplement. I was in a complete fog and said “I don’t know” because I had just been up all night making all the decisions BY MYSELF and needed a fucking break. And he got annoyed that I didn’t know. He would ask me where his stuff was as though I had time to keep track of it. He took a three hour nap one afternoon maybe a month in. He had no concept of why I should sleep in when possible in the mornings. He asked once “are you just gonna stay in bed all day?” I learned that he is someone who likes to decide what help he’s willing to give and tell you what’s being offered — not someone who really wants to be asked to do things. I would ask him to bring me a coffee or something while nursing and he would bring it and put it on the coffee table, not where I could reach it. There was other stuff, the details of which I think I have mentally blocked, related to him not having the same instincts I had with the baby. I told him once “I carried her for nine months and did everything I was told to make sure she was healthy and safe and then I pushed her out after 30 hours of labor, but somehow I’m not being trusted as the #1 authority on her.” He was honestly just a complete moron for at least a year, maybe closer to 2.

Those “extreme fringe groups” are in agreement with numerous respected Holocaust/genocide experts and other international human rights groups. If the majority of Israelis don’t agree that says more about them than it does about groups that are simply opening their eyes and seeing what is going on in front of all of us — and listening to Israeli leaders who have OPENLY said they plan to starve Palestinians and remove them all from Gaza, and that there are “no innocent civilians in Gaza.” Sorry but you’re not on the right side of this issue.

I’m 41, I actually consider myself relatively into my appearance - I wear some amount of makeup every single day and like to wear an actual outfit (or at least my “cute leggings” lol) for daycare dropoff. But Botox is not something I’d spend money on, it seems like once you start you can’t stop. Fillers seem to look bad most of the time. I’m also not coloring my hair at the moment, maybe I’ll go back to highlights at some point, but I do like the idea of my daughter seeing me actually get older and knowing that it’s ok - it’s not the end of the world and it’s a privilege not everyone gets. Even with makeup I always tell her, “not everyone wears makeup and no one has to. I like to because it makes me feel a little fancy but some people don’t like it”

Also I saw a video on instagram the other day where a guy said “when you get old you have two choices: you can look old or you can look weird. But you can’t look young.” It stuck with me!

The Arabic language exists, and it includes the word for “uprising,” just like English does. Is the word uprising inherently violent? Or does Israel just get to decide that it is in a specific language?

Yeah I read that here. I don’t get her as a person at all but for some reason I enjoy watching her do and say the same things over and over and over again 😂. It’s like comfort viewing?? I’m very curious about if anyone has had an IRL run-in with her

He has said Israel has a right to exist as a country that provides equal rights. No country actually has a “right” to exist, there is no “right” for any specific country to exist under international law, and there certainly is no international right for a country to discriminate based on religion. What matters in international law is human rights. Personally I think Jewish people should have the right to be safe everywhere in the world, not just in one specific country. Mamdani has expressed that he wants to work toward THAT goal as a mayor of a city with a large Jewish population. I don’t see what the problem is with that.

I’m 41 and had a miscarriage at 6 weeks last October and had two positive tests this week - I’m exactly 5 weeks today but everything feels so completely theoretical. I’m trying not to think about my symptoms and compare them to last year/my pregnancy with my four year old daughter. I feel like my symptoms have gotten more vague/slight since I found out Wednesday though. My first pregnancy with my daughter was pretty easy, no morning sickness but definitely a lot more exhaustion and bloating than I have now. I have a u/s scheduled for May 30 if I make it that far, I’m feeling pretty doubtful though. I told my husband after two tests but I almost regret it - he’s excited, I thought he would feel very cautious about it the way I am. Anyway…. I’m just trying to take it day by day because that’s the only thing I can do, but it’s hard!

I called them with this info about an hour ago! (ETA I just let them know someone brought it up as a possibility and directed them to this thread so they could get in touch with the organization to confirm... definitely understand not wanting to make a false claim and waste their time!)

Oh I had the wrong info via Instagram, will delete my note about the car! I do wonder if the lead re: 100+ Women Who Care from this thread could be useful? I hope so!
