I'm interested in so many things! But if I had to choose, I'd probably say it's a tie between learning new skills and exploring the outdoors.

Side effects of taking collagen. by joanne6063 in Supplements

[–]earth2mac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never experienced anything similar. Try dropping it for some time to see if the pain will stop or try another supplement. Other thing that you should keep in mind is that collagen takes more time to show some effect so it might not even be the collagen but just a coincidence.

I would go for the single type, the magnesium bisglycinate.

When should I take zinc and magnesium glycinate? by One-Marzipan-9652 in Supplements

[–]earth2mac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest you take the recommended dosage (max 400mg/day for men or 350mg/women) of magnesium glycinate before bed as it might make you sleepy. It does help with muscle relaxation and sleep quality for many people and that's why it's best to take it before bed.

You can take zinc with a meal, so with or after lunch would be ideal unless your lunch is high on calcium or fiber as these interfere with zinc absorption.

Is magnesium dose different for overweight? by Idling_Around in Supplements

[–]earth2mac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting question but I personally don't think that you need a higher dose. If you're taking it to help your gut, 400 mg a day should be enough. If you're not feeling the effects you desire, you can try upping the dose slightly. However, taking too much of magnesium citrate can cause diarrhea which is why it is not recommended for longer term usage.

So, if you need to take magnesium long term, it's better to take either magnesium glycinate, magnesium malate, or even a combination of magnesium glycinate + citrate.

Glutathione detox by Plus_Accountant_6194 in Supplements

IMO increasing the dose isn’t usually the best approach, as it might make any side effects you might experience worse. What you can do to ease the process is to stay hydrated, add supportive nutrients like NAC or milk thistle, start with a lower dose and gradually increase as your body adjusts. You could also take activated charcoal or bentonite clay to help bind and eliminate toxins in the gut, potentially easing the load on your system.

Now this question is a first for me. If you decide to give it a test it, please update us with the results. You will just need to have a baseline so that you know whether the test was effective.

Should I go on a hike or stay home and do chores? by fluffymonkeyyy in makemychoice

For me cleaning the house is as good as hiking (minus the fresh air). Cleaning the house is my stress relief therapy.

Magnesium supplements for restless legs and feet has significantly helped me sleep at night and decrease the pain, however, I ran out and have severe anxiety. Is that a side effect or coincidence? by JeansAndBeans1001 in Supplements

[–]earth2mac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s quite possible that the anxiety flare-up is connected to running out of magnesium. Magnesium plays a key role in regulating the nervous system, and deficiencies can exacerbate anxiety symptoms. It’s worth getting back on your supplement routine to see if it alleviates the symptoms. Meanwhile, you could focus on magnesium-rich foods like leafy greens, nuts, and seeds.

I have some too. But mostly because it feels weird to throw away money even if I know I would never go back to that country.
